This comment got me wondering (again) about why there was never a regular announcer on '80s Pyramids. Was it just down to Bob Stewart being unwilling or unable to schedule around announcer availability?

I think it was the Friday taping schedule (and a long day at that - ten shows taped in one day) that might have made it very unattractive for one announcer to consistently do that gig, even though there wasn't a lot of copy to read as the syndicated shows were taped (canned fee plugs). There never was a "regular" Pyramid announcer since Bob Clayton. As I recall, Steve O'Brien and Alan Kalter took turns on the remaining New York originations, then in LA, it started as Jack Clark's gig (Clark had announced the 1973 LA episodes), then later a mishmosh of Johnny Gilbert, Charlie O'Donnell, and Bob Hilton. And it got more left-field later on with Jerry Bishop, Dean Goss and Rod Roddy doing a week here and there and even Henry Polic II being brought on announce mike for a week of Davidson episodes.
That said, my best guess for the episode in question is Gilbert.
