Bert's Family Feud is in BIG trouble
« on: March 03, 2006, 11:35:39 PM »
It appears that the future of Bert Newton's foray into game show hosting may be under threat - as "Bert's Family Feud" is being thrashed in the crucial 5:30pm timeslot by "Deal Or No Deal", with DoND attracting more than 50% more viewers. It is undoubtedly damaging the ratings for the Nine Network during the early evening as well, with the news/current affairs programs losing out as well, and other gameshow offering, "Temptation" (which is now consistently 3rd in its time slot).

With Bert taking a "break" for the Commonwealth Games (for two weeks), there's every possibly it may not come back!

Here's an article from today's paper on the perilous state of the show.

For the record, Bert's other show, "20 to 1," is not an Aussie version of the UK quiz with five more contestants--it's a countdown clip show, sort of their version of a VH1 snarkfest.

Too bad really...I was impressed w/ the two clips I saw. Makes the US version pale in comparison. ;(

What he said.

If the Aussie version doesn't work out, can we have their producers? You think I'm kidding? :-P

Because I've had bowel movements that could host the Feud better than Karn, and therefore pretty much anything would be an improvement?

I gotta say, though, this gag has played itself out. Especially since, from my admittedly minimal experience, he didn't do this to nearly the extent that it's being made out.

Mark Walberg & Burton did run-through's after Louie left. Walberg would have been too dry for this show, even though I like his work.

I haven't watched this version of Feud enough, but did the $20,000/Double the points yelling occur with Louie as well?
Enjoy lots and lots of backstage TPIR photos and other fun stuff here. And yes, I did park in Syd Vinnedge's parking spot at CBS

Point taken. It's blown out of proportion. Understood.

On a side note, I didn't know if the screaming (blown out of proportion as it is) started with Karn.

Yeah, I know.  Sorry for not refraining.  But honestly, this is one of the things that truly annoys me about Karn--the personality of a popsicle stick.  No creativity, whatsoever.  Everytime I watch him he says this.  And it's annoying... along with that we're playing for $20,000 mess.
