From Television Week:
>>'Price Is Right' Gambles on Reno

FremantleMedia is hoping \"The Price Is Right\" will be just as popular an attraction in Reno, Nev., as it is in Los Angeles. FremantleMedia will stage a \"The Price Is Right Live!\" show at Harrah's Reno casino and hotel beginning Sept. 25. The show, which is slated to run for 11 weeks, will be a reproduction of the televised show with the big difference being that audience members get a chance to win their way on stage and play. This is not the first time the two companies have worked together -- Harrah's previously agreed to add new \"The Price Is Right\" slot machines in markets where it operates gambling properties.<<

It seems this has been one of the better kept secrets in our little world. For the months that many of us have known this was in the works, I never saw ANY posts about it anywhere. Well, I didn't spill the beans; the press releases apparently went out.

Now, before the rumors fly, and without disclosing any significant information, let me just say... no, Bob is not going on the road. There will be another host, new set pieces of several of the most popular TPIR games, and big prizes up for grabs!

Good lord, no. They want people to ENTER the showroom! I have a great face for announcing!   ;-)

But as a shameless plug I'll mention how proud I am to be continuing as a fill-in on the CBS TPIR. You're invited to listen along with my mom starting September 23!

Why have hamburger when you can have Filet minion?
Enjoy lots and lots of backstage TPIR photos and other fun stuff here. And yes, I did park in Syd Vinnedge's parking spot at CBS

I'd assume that the target audience for this show can't take off work whenever they please and fly across the country just so they can run around unaccompanied backstage at the \"steak house\".

My guess is that the audiences for these shows will consist of Reno locals who can't make it to LA for age, health, or financial reasons, plus the typical \"why not?\" crowd that populates shows like The Amazing Johnathan, etc., in Vegas.  Of course, if alcohol is a factor (it's a stage show in a casino, for crying out loud), then that could open up a whole new dimension to the Price viewing (and for some, playing) experience.

I'm not usually one to nitpick about something off-topic, but I did find it humorous that the snotty comment above has the word \"mignon\" misspelled.

I have been to the restaurant that serves Filet Mignon many times but they never seem to want to pick me as a customer. ;-)

I didn't mean my comment to be taken that way.

I meant for the casual fan/viewer, for those who had a choice between attending the Vegas attraction and the real deal, why would wouldn't they choose the real deal if they could go to either one?

Why choose an imitation when you can have the original? Just my opinion, but I hope you get my point.

I'm wondering if this is the forum to groom a replacement host. Although 11 weeks, won't cut it.

This almost sounds like the WWTBAM-Play It! attractions found at Walt Disney World (Disney-MGM Studios) and Disney's California Adventure.

Will there be rotating hosts?

Will there be more than one show a day?

This article doesn't mention prizes.  Will the \"contestants\" win actual prizes?  This is taking place in a casino, not a theme park.  Some casinos do have contests where patrons can win thousands of dollars, not just at the tables or the slot machines.

Also, wasn't there speculation of the real TPiR doing shows \"on the road\" after the success of the 30th Anniversary Las Vegas special?  Is that still a possibility or is that too much of a logistical nightmare?

A quick check of Harrah's Reno website shows that there will be a $29 charge to get in to the show, staged Thursdays thru Mondays at 7pm; no mention of host.  I'd get Bob Eubanks, he's done these kind of things before.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

I don't imagine they're banking on a wave of fans flying in just for \"TPIR Live.\"

But it being a stage show at a casino, that would seem to raise the interesting possibility of topless models.

Cliff Hangers, washers and dryers, AND half-naked ladies? Who could resist?

Wow, thirty bucks just to get in and watch a show (and maybe get on) that's merely a replica of something you can see for free every morning and attend for free in Los Angeles?  I'm almost tempted to agree with the \"filet minion\" comment.

It reminds me of when Drew Carey produced a pay-per-view special with his \"Who's Line?\" improvers.  Sure, you can point to the differences, but it comes down to paying for something that is generally perceived as being free.  I'll be very interested in following how successful this turns out to be.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

If a cannibal ate somebody's lowly assistant, would that be a \"filet minion?\"

Or if a cannibal ate 10 men, would that be a \"filet minyan?\"

Somebody stop me. Please.
This isn't a plug, but you can ask me about my book.
