The day after the hiatus is when I attended in 2004 and 2005, so know this. In 2004, I got there at 12:04am and was 75th in line. I got there around the same time in 2005 and was 14th.
I guess you got in both times? What's the cut-off for guaranteeing a seat?  If you're 100th in line, are you assured of getting in - or does it depend on how many groups have already pre-arranged?

Indeed I did. Bring a sweater or sweatshirt or light jacket because it gets a bit chilly at night. There's always the bagel shop across the street for temporary warmth and a rest room---if you provide a receipt that you purchased something there that night/morning. As for the seat guarantee, you answered your own question.
But if you're in the first 100, I would guess you're in a safe zone.

[quote name=\'TimK2003\' date=\'Mar 23 2006, 08:51 PM\']Another good choice was the Comfort/Quality Inn on Highland Drive in Hollywood, near the Hollywood Bowl.  Only 15 minutes away in the middle of the night plus they had offered a special 2AM Continental Breakfast for the TPIR guests

The place is nice but a bit on the higher end of places to stay in the area.

I still think Palermo's on Vermont is the best.

In early 2001, when I arrived at the parking lot (shortly before construction began on the Grove, moving the contestant line the sidewalk), I was happy to see I was #2 in line. To my dismay, the person in front of me was holding the spot for several of his friends. I think there may have been a dozen or so. So I went from #2 to #14. Still not bad, but I wasn't expecting someone to hold a spot for that many people. So I don't think you can ever count how many are in front of you and base your number from that. People do hold spots for others who are sleeping, getting breakfast, etc...

Enjoy lots and lots of backstage TPIR photos and other fun stuff here. And yes, I did park in Syd Vinnedge's parking spot at CBS

  • Just leave the set; that’d be terrific.

Might I suggest this be added to the Archives?  It's a decent (and still growing) list of things that potential visitors to studio 33 may wish to see/visit.

Hopefully, I am able to make the trip out there some day.
