But does it? Solving the puzzle still locks your points where they are, just like on our show, so I can see some strategic reasons why you'd want to solve outside of the prize.

My gut feeling is that it will keep the game closer. I'll be interested to see some eps and see if my gut feeling is correct.

I imagine the show also has a decent number of contestants who aren't really expecting to win more than a small prize or two for winning rounds, and are therefore happy to solve the puzzle once they know it.
