Today marked the 56th anniversary of the debut of Beat The Clock originally was a 45 minute show but in 1951, Sylvania picked up the show and turned into a 30 minute show, but no episodes before August 2, 1952 has never made it to reruns but Bud Collyer was the original Numer One Clockwatcher but was subsituted by John Reed King, Frank Wayne, Win Elliott and such because of his summer vacation, the show was on CBS from 1950 to 1958 and was on ABC from 1958-61, Bud hosted the show for almost 11 years; the show revived in 1969 with Jack Narz as a new host and when he left in 1972, Gene Wood took over the hosting duties and remained until 1974; it revived again in 1979 with Monty Hall as host and went back to being seen on CBS stations but it only stayed on until 1980
Today also marked the anniversary of Joe Trela became the third contestant to win $1,000,000 on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and was the second-youngest contestant to win $1,000,000 on a TV Game Show.
