Worst case DOnD scenario painfully realized
« on: April 07, 2006, 10:51:59 AM »
Well, I played a couple o' rounds of DOnD at NBC.com just now, and the outcome of the last game was devastating!  The board was down to two amounts: the MILLION and ONE BUCK.  Having never quite reached this plateau before and feeling a bit positive about the odds, I turned down the bank's last offer of over 300K, opened the case I picked at the outset and found I had, of course...$1!!! AAAAARRRRRGH!!!!!

The million was in the one unopened case, natch.  Don't think I'll be filling out the entry form to be on the show anytime soon....

Um. I can ALMOST see it from the standpoint of being mildly interested in seeing if anything interesting happens on your screen if you should "win" the million. Otherwise....wow.

Did you have reason to belive your odds were better than 50/50?

  • Just leave the set; that’d be terrific.

Seriously...how is reporting these gameplay results even mildly interesting?  Oh my gosh, an electronic graphic says you're a loser.

One dollar is not a worst case scenario.  One penny, now that would be the worst case scenario.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

Big "Whoosh" to you, Chris.  Jimmy's been making deadpan observations like that for, well, just about as long as we've been here.  Not everybody overdoes the emoticons.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

See, "worst case" referred to the one case with the penny.  The other cases had more money.  So the penny would be the "worst case," not the dollar, that would be the "second worst case."  That's why choosing the penny vs. the million would be the "worst case scenario."

If the show required people to pick boxes, there would be no joke, but since they pick cases, there is.  Is there an emoticon for total seriousness?  :|

No, you obviously didn't know it.  Jimmy made a funny and you treated him like he was a clueless idiot.  Ergo the "whoosh".

Now is the time for a deep breath.
