TNA Wrestling has game show-like segment...
« on: April 30, 2006, 12:19:54 PM »
TNA iMPACT!, the wrestling show on Spike TV, had a game show-like segment at the end of this week's show.

Sting came out to the ring and offered an opponent who (nn) was waiting in one of two tunnels to Jeff Jarrett, who declined the offer. New TNA star Christy Hemme played the game show model. Bob Barker and TPIR was mentioned. The Stinger even told Jarrett, "Deal or No Deal?"

Just act like he doesn't exist. He's never gonna learn, so what's the point?

Honestly, I almost posted this myself. But I held back because I didn't want to advertise to the world that I actually watch TNA. (My Tivo grabs it, and it's train-wreck awful.)

Sting playing Monty Hall was amusing enough (again, in that train-wreck fashion), but the real gem of the segment was when you found out who they pulled out of the mothballs to be "behind" the two tunnels: Marcus "Buff" Bagwell, and Lex Luger.

Yeah. THAT'LL get ratings. :)

And here I thought Sting was gonna go be a preacher like Million Dollar Man, Ted DiBiase. ;)

In my spare time, I've been tinkering with a program that randomly spits out numbers, punctuation, letters capitalized and not, and spaces. I thought I had it right, and wouldn't you believe it, TNA offered to buy it from me.

The first thing that came out of the printer was the script for last night's episode. They returned the program and asked for a refund.
If you didn’t create it, it isn’t your content.

And pulling HIM out of the mothballs has been the funniest thing the WWE has done in a LONG time. :)

I think you've just re-invented the manatee. (Because, as you all know, manatees "write" "Family Guy.")

Hey, here's something that only the game show/wrestling fans here will get:

A game show segment on wrestling? That sounds more like something from "TNT" than TNA.

Well, let's recap a list of the five people in the ring involved in this promo:
  • Jeff Jarrett
  • Sting
  • Scott Steiner
  • Marcus "Buff" Bagwell
  • Lex Luger
Oh:
  • ...and the play-by-play man was Mike Tenay.
So, yeah, there is very much a TNT flavor to the broadcast.

I think the TNT was referencing Tuesday Night Titans, a talk/skit show from the WWF in the mid-80s.  In terms of game show skits, I remember a Dating Game parody with the Hart Foundation.

Setting aside the well-deserved snarkiness given the people involved, who they have behind the tunnel in two weeks, THAT'S how they're gonna get ratings.

And at this rate, there is a good chance that the people behind Doors #5 and 6 could end up being La Parka and Tank Friggin' Abbott. :)

It could be worse people...

Sting: Here's who you could have wrestled...bring him out!

Mike Tenay: OH MY GOD!  It's...it's...THE GOBBLY GOOKER!  Jarrett could have wrestled a turkey!

Don West (drunk and thinking he's still on ShopatHome): HOLY CRAP!  I JUST *BLEEPED* MYSELF OVER THIS JUNIOR GRIFFEY ROOKIE CARD!  BUY EM WHILE THEY LAST!
