A friend of mine at FOX News has just sent me a link to this huge, breaking story on their website (piggybacked from the NY Post story).

And the beat goes on.

And the hits just keep on comin'--cue the Johnny Mann Singers...  :)

And even the ultimate in modern news updating:

Ken's made Fark.com, which means his Website will be unavailable for a day or so.
This isn't a plug, but you can ask me about my book.

Looks like Ken has updated his blog with what SHOULD be an unneeded clarification.

I swear. Who hires these reporters?

He couldn't have anticipated that the media would pick up on that entry and take it seriously.  Not even Ken is that smart.  Still, with the book coming out in a couple of months, the timing is certainly fortuitous in an "any publicity is good publicity" sort of way.

EDIT:  Google News is now showing some "hipper" news services running stories-about-the-stories, using words like "sarcasm" and "humor-impaired" in their headlines.  Major news outlets are still reporting the "bashing".  What I find interesting is that the AP report says they tried to contact Jeopardy for a comment, though they didn't appear to offer Ken the same courtesy so he could explain humor to them.

BTW, my Googling also turned up a TV Q&A column which says that according to someone at Comedy Central, they're not picking up Ken's game show.  I don't remember anybody here mentioning that, so there you go.

This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

Welcome to the world of the media, where the slightest thing is a story.

Is it bad reporting? Hell yes, but at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the "Big 3" morning shows consider this story for "reporting".

I wonder if Fox News Watch will talk about this on their next show.  I'd think it'd be Quick Takes-worthy.  (That show's the only one I watch on the network, but that's another discussion)

The more that I think about this, the more I think Jennings is out of line.  Sure, he was trying to be funny, but it really doesn't sit well with me.  His humor was probably a little more offensive that it needed to be.
This signature is currently under construction.

Are you telling me that there's a brand new group of people I have to tiptoe around to be PC now?

How many Jeopardy fans does it take to screw in a light bulb?

A Jeopardy fan, a Wheel fan, and Zach Horan all walk into a bar....

Finally, Mark Goodson says "That's a hell of a show. What do you call it?"

Oh, wait, I was just handed this memo:

Lighten up, Francis.

Sincerely,

Uncle Hulka

The overnight talking head on 710 AM here in Seattle was a one time loser on Jeopardy back in 1985. He also got his hands on the relevant pages of Ken's blog. Just as expected, he went on an entire "Biting the hand that paid him" tirade for roughly five minutes or so. I was nearly moved to become a "Long time listener, first time caller," and in the process telling him to actually internalize the piece, rather than taking it at face value.

It is HUMOR. It is supposed to make people laugh.
If you didn’t create it, it isn’t your content.
