Is it just me, or was there a laugh/audience track on this show?  95% of the audience looked like they didn't know what to do, or where just plain bored...

  • Just leave the set; that’d be terrific.

Ever watched The Price is Right?  Whenever Bob makes his usual crack in Range Game, an audience track is inserted.

It's nothing new.

It's primarily a paid audience at GSM. The audience reaction is sweetened to within inches of contracting diabetes. The usual SOP for all primetime games from L.A. these days.

...Or LA-based prime-time shows of any kind, I'd wager.

Now see, if you moved these shows to NY, you'd get a different kind of reaction.  We arn't used to, or spoiled by every TV show in the states being filmed in our city :).

Although on the show that aired last Monday, I didn't hear the obligatory canned laughter after "...for 37 hours"--maybe they've stopped doing that.

If you want a guide on where they sweeten on "TPIR," it's usually over most if not all of the applause (remember, there is no such thing as a television studio audience sounding *too* big), especially if they're covering tape edits, the shouting during one-bids (to cover the fact that generally only the section of the audience where the contestant that's up is the only part of the crowd shouting) and laughter on the lame jokes in the Showcases.  And perhaps still "37 hours."
