A celebrity who appeared on a show can veto it for the rest of their life, and beyond via their estate, if they want to. Hence why the Rayburn BTB '85 episodes will never see the light of day.

And would you now like to tell us your source for this information? 'Cuz the only way I could see it happening is if the host or celebrity had it written into their appearance contract, and I can't see any producer with an ounce of sense in their head agreeing to that, when there are plenty of other celebrities and hosts out there without a primadonna attitude that a producer can hire that won't hamstring them in that way.
I suspect, of course, that you are full of crap.

And there hasn't even been an attempt to clear "BTB '85" for repeat use, AFAIK.
It is pretty certain that MGP did reclear all of their shows for GSN, since the words "cable television" weren't in the original contracts for most of the talent. I'm still assuming that Henry's contract for "NYSI" would've said something that MGP had the right to sell the program and show his image for "any manner of television transmission in common use now and in the future" without Henry's permission as long as residuals were paid to the talent, it being 1989, but they went to everyone and he said "no"--and MGP respected his wishes when they probably didn't need to. The mark of a class operation.
