To be honest, I frequently watched the show when it was originally on.  Being in my early-mid teens then, usually there were a few good reasons each show to tune in...  :)

Oh yeah, I forgot about contestant number five from last night...:P

Beat 'ya to it, Matt. I never saw the show before, but I can see why it appeals to some and not to others. I really LIKED the show in a "oh jeez, what a mess" way. It was good for a lot of laughs and everyone looked like they were having the time of their lives. It was all done in a "We, including the contestants KNOW this is all a joke, so why not have some fun doing it all?", sort of way. I'd certainly like to see it again, if it were to come up...

Considering you're from NY, I can so hear "oh jeez, what a mess" in my mind with an Archie Bunker voice. :)

Even Casey Abell would agree that this isn't a friggin' game show.
Can't agree or disagree. Never seen the show, including the episode last night. Does have an entry in EOTVGS, so somebody thought it was a game show. Of course, EOTVGS has an entry for Home Run Derby.

By the way, the GSN fifty greatest series has its own Wikipedia entry now, though somebody put it up for deletion. The keep votes are winning easy.

Put it this way: Home Run Derby is more of a game show than $1.98 is, because at least with Home Run Derby there is a legitimate spontaneous competition taking place.

Greed slides in at #37, and GSN treats us to Curtis Warren's Million Dollar Moment.

#41: The $1.98 Beauty Show.  GSN takes us back to its glory days to start week 2.

#40: Twenty-One, but as GSN doesn't own this one, it gets a passing mention.

#39: GE College Bowl, which also gets a passing mention.

#38: Whammy?!  Good night!

I was going to ask for a trade of last night's episode because I forgot it was on. But, after seeing what I missed, I'll just wait to see if GSN shows the specials again.

And to add on to this:

Remote Control came in at #36 and Beat the Clock at #35 with just mere mentions.

Okay, this makes no sense here. Did they REALLY have to show the full epsiode? Besides the part where Curtis wins the money, it wasn't a notable epsiode at all. It makes me sad that Beat The Clock got only a mere mention. At one part, I was going to still give it up a thumbs night. All because of the mention of Remote Control, but the fact that they aired an epsiode of Greed that was on two months ago (And will be on again in two months anyway.), instead of only showing the portion of Curtis/an epsiode of Beat The Clock, makes it a thumbs down for me. First time on this special for me, that I really felt like changing the channel...

Big letdown for me tonight. Wish they would have just mentioned Greed (since it's on all of the time) and aired an episode of BTC and Remote Control (assuming that they could have leased one episode like most peolple think they did with STYD). I don't think airing the episode of RC would be a hassle....didn't
VH1Classic dig them out for air not too long ago, promo it, then never do so? I would like to see RC turn up again someday.
Hopefully this week isn't a total loss, and we get something good Thursday.

You know, I bet you right here that I can name the Top 3 shows on this list.  #3, I'm not sure with, but you can put the top 2 in the bank right next to my prediction of the 2K6 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest and my prediction of this year's Emmy for Reality Show (Race)

#3: Lingo
#2: The Price is Right
#1: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

Whereas the TV Guide list seemed to unnecessarily include a lot of old shows, I'm banking on this list to skew towards the "Money Demo" (men 18-34).  This way you can put up the following excuse: "The Price is Right has been on forever, but hasn't really done anything.  Millionaire actually DID something."

It's a crap excuse but if you couldn't choose Price as the greatest of all time, it's a decent back-up.
This signature is currently under construction.

It's things like this that make me secure in the fact that such a special would be a much better production if handled by the sensible people in the game show scene. Even considering the fact that it would be illegal without getting permission from the rights holders, I still say we could do heaps better than GSN. I managed to catch that Greed was the show to get tonight's full-ep treatment, so I never cared to see which shows got the shaft. To hear afterwards that BTC got the shaft is making me think that some really deserving shows will be getting the shaft once we get closer to the top 10. Put it this way - I'm a huge PYL fan, but if PYL gets a full ep (as one would expect) and TPiR doesn't, then I will have lost what little faith I have in GSN's production values. Of course, I've been somewhat expecting this since the first couple of hours, but the further we get into this series of programs, the less I expect.

Well, Bill said that Greed was only the first of 4 Chuck Woolery hosted shows that made the countdown. So...of Love Connection, Lingo, Scrabble, and Wheel, which is the odd one out?
Fact To Make You Feel Old: Just about every contestant who appears in a Price is Right Teen Week episode from here on out has only known a world where Drew Carey has been the host.

They're gonna associate Wheel with Sajak.

(That said, it SHOULD be Love Connection, since it isn't a game show.)

Something tells me this night was nothing more than a rehash of a Greed episode that airs on GSN regularly anyways.  Sure enough, #37 gave us the infamous Curtis Warren("That Hair Guy") Million Dollar Moment.  I was hoping this got skipped, but no such luck.  At least it wasn't the Chuck Woolery question debacle that's for sure.  Otherwise, I would've snapped.

As for the others, I didn't mind Remote Control(#36) getting a passing mention because I caught a whole episode on YouTube this week.  Beat The Clock(#35) might've gone both ways since it's aired on late nights at 3 AM here in the East anyways.

I just hope they sneak in a Scrabble episode either tonight or next Tuesday as part of the Chuck Woolery parade of shows.  I'm sure Lingo's there.  Love Connection is really the issue with me right now.  We'll see what happens next starting at #34.
