Sure, we know GSN turned this list into "The 50 Most Profitable Games On Our Network (with some Reg Grundy sprinkled here and there)", but since we're through the bottom half of the list now, is ANYBODY on this board convinced that there's no more crap on the list?

Has Gong Show run yet?

If not, then no.

The Gong Show hasn't run yet... and now that I've though about it, neither The Newlywed Game or Dating Game have, either. So I guess we ARE stuck with more crap. With 22 spots left, here's the inevitable:

To Tell The Truth
Match Game
Family Feud
Concentration
The Price is Right
Lingo
Pyramid
Wheel of Fortune
Jeopardy
Hollywood Squares
Press Your Luck
Millionaire
The Newlywed Game
The Dating Game
The Gong Show
Original Password
Chain Reaction (You know they're gonna at least mention it to push their own version)
I've Got a Secret
Now it's just a question of "Where do they rank?"

Hah! It would behoove GSN to not show this in order to save them the embarrassment of mucking the show up 26 years later. They certainly didn't include this in the Top 50.

I'm sure Let's Make a Deal and Weakest Link are going to show up, and I would hope that What's My Line is up there.
Any bets on Love Connection?

At least Dating and Newlywed have history going for them...nobody can deny that they were very popular in their time, and probably do deserve to be on a 50 Greatest list, even though in and of themselves they weren't great games.

And they're actually game shows. Whereas Love Connection is not, and you can bet that will show up too, if it hasn't already.

We're probably due for at least a couple more head-scratchers this week (I'm holding out hope that they're going to pimp their remake by including the original Chain Reaction), but sure, we're getting to the point that there aren't that many "great" shows left.

IGAS, WML, TTTT, Jeopardy, Wheel, Feud, TPIR, Pyramid, Dating, Newlywed, Gong, Concentration, Password, Squares, Name That Tune, Match Game, Millionaire, Press Your Luck and Let's Make A Deal haven't been mentioned yet.  Unless I'm missing something huge, that leaves only three more "lesser" slots.  They almost have to include Lingo since Hollywood Showdown's on the list, and if Remote Control made it then we're likely to see Double Dare mentioned.  That just leaves one, and remember they have rights to Weakest Link.

My chances for What's Going On? now appear greatly diminished.

I think between you and Rollercoaster we've got the rest of the list.  Slam dunk that LC is included.  The only one I'd question would be TWL (it just doesn't strike me as something that would be in the top half of a "50 Greatest" anything--but I've been wrong before).  And had GONG not been included in the promo clip, I'd question whether it would make the list as well (unlike Chris L., though, I loved GONG and would be glad to see it pop up--please try not to hold that against me).

Not to mention NYSI.

Looks like it might just be a battle royale between LC and TWL if Summers DD is included in the listing.

It's time to honor Lee!
Perhaps in the autumn they could rank The Bottom 50. There's your chance.

Exceptional point. That Studs is in the list and Now You See It isn't....well, damn.

(Yeah, I realize that NYSI had two relatively short runs, but....friggin' Studs, man!)

Studs was a big show back in the day, a solid second in the dating/romance show field behind Love Connection.  This is not an endorsement for it being on the list.  I'm just saying it was more popular than you think.

Now if That's Amore was on the list...

But people got tired of it real quick, since I don't think it was on longer than two years.

But the fact that it opened the gates for another wave of syndicated dating shows like "Blind Date" and "ElimiDate" (and "The Bachelor" on network) is a claim for being on the list, which like all of these things is subjective and arguable.  Tenuous, but a claim.

And, week 4 kicks off with TWL at 22.  The NBC primetime version gets a brief mention, but it's the Gray syndie version that gets the full ep.

And, it's I've Got a Secret at 21.  Bil makes the obligatory plug for the new version before going into the 70's version.

Which is good for full-ep treatments, as the syndie version was only a half-hour.
