How about these:
Let's Make A Deal
Press Your Luck
Family Feud(Dawson I)
The $20,000 Pyramid
The Dating Game
Hollywood Squares
Password
Wheel of Fortune
Jeopardy!
Child's Play
Quiz Kids Challenge
Double Dare(CBS)
Match Game '7#
Now You See It
What's My Line?

These above could be in this list but we'll have to see but we do have the sweeps going on with the Top 50 Game Shows list.

They would have omitted something to include Line...BTC, perhaps.

Maybe Studs?

Seriously though, GSN wanted to gloat that this is the most successful original programming and give us two episodes for our enjoyment punishment.

Are you nuts? The Quiz Kids Challenge was a big heaping dose of "meh". I mean, I thought the concept was good, but replace the kids with another set of adults and you have a generic quizzer. and Jonathan Prince wasn't the best host out there.

Double Dare... no, just no.

Oh wait, this was an irismason post. I just realized my goof.

What's My Line? has been running on the network almost continuously since GSN started.  It ran originally for twenty-five years, seventeen of those in prime time.  There are clubs and discussion groups today devoted to its greatness.  On TV Guide's 2001 list of the 50 Greatest, it was fifth.  GSN has the rights to air it.  Shop Til You Friggin' Drop made the list.  There is no way WML? gets left out.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

Edit: I'm viewing the PR on the corporate site now. Not a single mention of Race. Still definitely in the sell sheet though

My mistake, it was the sell sheet from which I was remembering this excerpt: From Truth or Consequences to the Amazing Race and its current run, this special television event will cover all the wins and losses ....etc. etc.

The more I think about it, the more ludicrous it would be for What's My Line to be shafted in favor of Amazing Race. Perhaps it's Dating Game that'll get dumped? I don't remember it in any promos.
I have no idea how this'll work out, so I'm just going to stop attempting to make any predictions and wait just like everyone else...

TDG does appear in the promo.  And yes, I agree that it would be straight-up blasphemy if WML? was omitted, but I can't think of anything else that they could leave out.  I can only hope that the mention of TAR on the sell sheet was an error.

Gee, what did we do to deserve two episodes of Lingo?

Maybe top five for Newlywed Game was a bit of a stretch... top ten, then.  Over/under, whatdyall got?

Well...here's what's been mentioned/pictured in the press release sthat we haven't seen yet:

- Match Game
- Jeopardy
- Who Wants to be a Millionaire
- Newlywed Game
- Press Your Luck
- Hollywood Squares
- Amazing Race
- Family Feud

And here is what's also been seen on the TV Ads:

- The Dating Game
- $20,000 Pyramid
- Let's Make A Deal
- Password
- The Gong Show

What hasn't been mentioned, but would be considered top 10 material:

- The Price is Right
- Wheel of Fortune
- What's My Line

Well, it looks alot like GSN dosen't think What's My Line is a show that's up to par with shows like Studs, Dog Eat Dog, or Three's A Crowd......sad

Surely, they wouldn't skip Price just because they don't own the rights, would they?

They talked about Remote Control, Truth or Consequences, 21 (I thought they owned had the 2000 version?), Studs, etc.

Price is Right is a show that has been on the air continuously for 34 years, and has an extremely strong following among college students, one of the demos GSN wants to attract in the first place.  NO way GSN leaves it out.  NO way. (And if they do, people genuinely need to be FIRED, as someone simply failed, outright, to do their job). Wheel is...well...Wheel. What's My Line has aired on the network longer than the significant majority of other shows (Only 2 G-T shows, FF and MG, have aired on GSN a longer period of time, and only two non-G-T shows come to mind (NG, J!) as also surpassing it.

I do believe something that was advertised to someone (be it viewers or advertisers) is getting shuffled to the back.  Gong, DG, and Race, at least to me, seem to be the 3 most likely candidates.  My money's on Race.

Thumbs down tonight, and a very sour way to end the week, which was only ok. TWO epsiodes of Lingo? Actually, I thought they were going to air the 80's version after the first season epsiode, but then I realized my stupidity...and oh great, an epsiode of Lingo I literally saw two weeks ago...

I think it's The Race that'll get shafted, but I don't know...

It needs to be said and shall be said now.
GSN: The Network For Games is staffed by poopy-butts.
Next Tuesday, I'm expecting Mall Masters and DJ Games.
Time again to grab that VHS and erase, erase, erase. 2 Lingos.
Is Playmania on their Top 50 as well?

This whole week was an up & down affair.  Naturally, Name That Tune(#17) gets a passing mention.  Now, on to #16...

...Lingo L-I-N-G-O(sorry, couldn't  resist).  The first episode shown takes me back exactly 4 years to this month it first appeared on GSN.  Thought that was neat to see.  Sure it was cheap, but how can you not go wrong with US players being in Holand to tape this "experiment" that turned into the longest original GSN game show going.

As for its 2nd airing, all I can say is meh.  So, that finishes this week's procddeings.

35 shows down & 15 to go,  I have a pretty good feeling what shows will show up.  The only questiom is, will TPIR be mentioned somewhere in the Top 5?  We'll see when we resume at #15.

My money's on GONG.  I'd bet that GONG made their initial top 50 and included it in the promo clip.  Then they tried to license an episode but "music clearance" got in the way.  So they bumped GONG, everything else got moved up one (and 3AC--another Barris show--was the beneficiary, getting into the top 50).  Then GSN airs the promo, but with GONG still in it.

Despite my own warm and fuzzy feelings about GONG, I can't see the execs at GSN making it top-15 of all time.
