November 1999 Millionaire was a mixture of half hour and hour depending on ABC's schedule.    But as it went on and ratings were huge.  The hours took over.

Well let's get into predictions for tonight...

I am 99.9% sure we are going to see Dating Game/Newlywed Game. This list was predictible the last nights, so I am pretty sure on those 2. Get a double shot of Chuck Barris tonight...b/c I believe these are the last Barris shows we're going to see on the countdown.

Not everyone is necessarily in agreement about that.  Just because TPiR is the longest running show doesn't mean it's the"annointed one" anymore than Meet the Press would necessarily surpass See It Now or 60 Minutes on a list as the greatest news show of all time.  A good and logical choice, maybe, but not necessarily a done deal.  (Personally I'm leaning toward Jeopardy!) I think any of your top four would be acceptable and would give some creedence to the list (not that some of the other entries haven't already damaged its credibility like Studs or Three's a Crowd).

I'm wondering what other show is getting the full-hour treatment.

This is where it would be optimal to know that there were Woolery WoF's or Fleming Jeopardy episodes available.

That is correct. The poster who stated that John Carpenter's win was during a 1/2 hour episode is actually correct. Carpenter was a contestant over two 1/2 hour episodes with the 2nd one containing his win.

Actually, most everyone is, including TVGuide.

Yes, I agree. TPiR though is basically the shoo-in for #1, with its longitvity, format, ratings, etc.

I second that. BTW you can add Dog Eat Dog to that list.

And, it is the Dating Game at #10, as part 1 of the Chuck Barris double feature falls into place.  The episode chosen is the Andy Kaufman ep.

I wish I was counting the number of times I've rasied my head away from the computer and just pretty much went "WTF".  If I had a dime for every time that happened....

Someone needs to explain to me Andy Kaufman.  I'm sure he's funny, but not here, really.
This signature is currently under construction.

I'm sorry, but I have to nip that in the bud.  Just because a show is the longest running show of all time does not lock up #1 for it.  There could be other games that are more worthy of the #1 status than Price may be.  This is exactly why lists like this are always debatable.

Did I hear right? 1978? Kaufman may not have been as notorious then as he later became, but he was hardly unknown.

Does anybody know where I can find the 1st half "let's meet your date" and prize cues? The LMYD cue was also used on The Joke's On Us.
