It's possible that the prize cues are on the Chuck Barris Game Show Themes CD. A good amount of Treasure Hunt/The Newlywed Game cues are on that CD. I didn't see tonight's show. Thus, I don't know what cues were used.

Surely someone who saw tonight's show has a more definite answer...

That particular cue isn't on the Barris CD.  That CD is mostly of cues/themes written in the early '70s for his shows.  By the time Dating Game returned in '78, a few new ones had been written, and have never appeared on CD to my knowledge.

And on the "in the ass" quote being left uncensored, didn't The Gong Show Movie air it un-edited, for one reason or another? I just recieved the DVD copy, if I ever watch it, I'll tell you guys if it was on. I swear I heard someone say it was...
I don't know about The Gong Show Movie but an uncensored clip of it does appear in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, the movie about Chuck Barris that George Clooney directed.

I never saw the Confessions movie, but I'd almost swear that I saw an uncensored clip of it somewhere else.  As to where it was, I can't remember.

I don't know if you've ever seen Man On The Moon, or know anything about Kaufmann outside of Taxi, but that was pretty much how he operated day-to-day. Mostly just to screw with people, too, was the vibe I got.

I know all about Andy, he's a hero of mine.  My remark about him acting like "he's in a very strange world and can't grasp what's going on" was meant to compare him to other DG contestants, even though it's normal for Andy (or at least his "foreign man" character, as it was known before Taxi and the name "Latka").  Someone else on the board asked to "explain Andy Kaufman to me," and Andy loved it when people complained out loud that they didn't "get" him.

Milton DeLugg did a bunch of added cues for "TDG"'s return in 1978--don't think Chuckie Baby was going to spring for using the Count Basie/Herb Alpert/Jimmy McGriff records that ABC cleared the first time around (although he did spring for the "TNG" win cue).

And for those of who know Andy Kaufman, that was a classic moment last night--and something that ABC S&P would've probably not allowed Chuckie Baby to get away with on network.

Those prize cues are the work of Milton Delugg. A couple of them were played live on "$1.98 Beauty Show" as background cues for some of the contestants' acts, in pretty much the same orchestration, so I'm guessing they were recorded by the expanded Band With A Thug (two added sax players) that was used for the first season of $1.98.

Also, for the record, The Gong Show Movie has never been released on DVD, or for that matter on any home video format.  Copies are easily available since it's aired on television a few times.

That's how I got my copy...:D

Yeah that makes sense. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when I watched the Dating Game last night and when they had to pick their date, I swore I heard the music that was heard on The New Treasure Hunt. Can I get it confirmed or I need to check my hearing. Also I had not seen that episode, granted the clips on game show moments along with the infamous newlywed game episode from 1977.

Well, since Treasure Hunt and Dating Game were both Barris created and produced, it's very likely you would've heard the same, or at least a similar cue.

Romper Room?  Eye Guess?  How Do You Like Your Eggs? The Red Hot Poker Feel Good Hour?
Doggone it!  I forgot to put How Do You Like Your Eggs? and Chuck Barris' The Red Hot Poker Feel Good Hour on the list I sent to Matt.  Oh well.

Well, Rich, you can rest easy.  Pyramid is the hour of power at #8.  First up, the Crystal/Vizconi $20K episode with Crystal's record-setting win.

Well, Bil said that from now on, all half-hour shows in the countdown will have two episodes featured. That sounds like very good news, and the chance of seeing The Amazing Race looks very bleak.

So, if the schedule in Richard's signature is right (I don't know if it is or not)...then, some shows are getting the shaft, eh?

I heard this too and I can't figure out how they will be doing this without skipping a few of these shows to fit the rest of the countdown in hour segments. Price is pretty much going to be skipped then, probably coming in #2 while the hour is dedicated to Match, Wheel, Feud, etc...
