GSN 50 greatest game shows special...

I think, though, that logic would suggest something pretty close to that.  IF we take the Dwyer quote at face value (and there are reasons why it doesn't make a lot of sense) then three of the last six shows are not going to be seen.  Millionaire, Match Game and Family Feud are three of their most popular shows, Wheel and Jeopardy less so, and Price, of course, they don't have at all.  On the surface, then, the most logical assumption is that the first three will be shown, and the last three won't.  Is it possible that they could surprise us with Price and not show one of the others? Sure, but that doesn't seme remotely as likely as the other explanation.[/quote]

The bigger problem with the logic everyone throwing around is why would they give a double shot of Pyramid and LMAD when they'd have to shaft FF, MG, and WWTBAM with a single episode each if they were intending on airing the other three.

Unless, perhaps, Sony has a deal with KingWorld that keeps those two shows out of prime time on GSN.

That's certainly the more plausible explanation why they'd not air them.  Supposedly KW has some agreement with Oprah and Dr Phil where they can't be run opposite one another unless they're both double run, so it's not outside the realm of possibility that there's a similar non-compete agreement concerning J! and WoF (especially since both would air current episodes on the west coast during the same time period 50GGS airs on the east coast)

The problem with that is that it just doesn't seem logical that they'd not show Wheel and Jeopardy, when they made room for $1.98 Beauty Show and Shop Til You Drop.  Unless, perhaps, Sony has a deal with KingWorld that keeps those two shows out of prime time on GSN.

...but surely showing, say, an Art Fleming ep of Jeopardy! wouldn't be any kind of gross violation of any such agreement, ditto the Wheel of Fortune 3,000th episode from the 1980s (or a rare Woolery ep that might've turned up).

They do anything like that, and I'll take back *most* of what I've said about GSN in the past (like they really care). ;-)

On another board, a poster mentioned that someone has put a really old GSN promo on YouTube. What was interesting about the promo is that it promo'd a showing of the syndicated version of "The Price Is Right" starring Tom Kennedy - could that conceivably fill in for Bob Barker? Heck, I'll take a Bill Cullen TPIR if they've got it.

Betraying my age, aren't I?

I would think that is workable, only problem is, I think most people here are tapping their feet expecting to see Bob Barker.

Edit: ...and absolutely no way will they show a Cullen ep...unless some rare color ep from the ABC run turns up in someone's barn.

Well I am sure you heard what Bil Dwyer said Wedensday. He said 2 shows of each of the remaining. If you think logically, Match Game, Millionaire and Family Feud would be it. If you go to GSN's site and click on 50 Greatest in the schedule, you'll see pictures on the 50 Greatest page. 1 is of MG and 1 is of WWTBAM. FF was shown in the promo. So there are your 3 shows being aired, which logically counts TPiR out(and WoF and J!).

Thank you for officially killing that joke.

And you wonder why people pick on you...

GSN does have the Cullen version in their possession. But CBS doesn't let GSN air that version, even though it aired on NBC and ABC.

So unless something weird happens do NOT expect TPiR.

What does one have to do with the other?

Hot damn! I just won $50 on a TV Quotes game. I was able to identify that "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!" was from The Brady Bunch. I'm tickled pink as of right now. =D

That has nothing to do with this topic. That should be posted in the "PlayMania" topic.  But good job, anyway.

You are, beyond a shadow of a doubt, absolutely the last person who should be telling others what is appropriate and what is not.

And, perhaps more relevantly to this case, a clock running backwards is right four times a day. ;)

Be careful using the photos on that page as a sign of anything.  That is the same page everyone kept using to say The Amazing Race would be in the countdown.   There are 5 Race photos and it is not going to be on the countdown.
