Does anyone know what MTV plans to do for their 25th anniversary?  I don't think anyone has really acknowledged it (the UK version of MTV did).  I'm surprised no one has posted about this.  Will they show their old game shows?  Or will they change the name of the channel?  You won't be hearing people say "I want my MTV" these days.

They didn't do a whole lot to promote their 20th anniversary as I recall, so I wouldn't expect them pulling out videos from 1981 or game shows from 1987 or 1995 too much.

Actually I remember MTV doing a complete week long retrospective on their history, a 2 hour special each day.   But, as we all know, Zach is always right.

Yeah, the 20th anniversary thing was pretty much all of that year - they even released a DVD box set of videos called the MTV 20 Collection or something like that.

Probably because this is a game-show message board, and not an MTV one.

Probably not, unless they're gonna do a "where are they now" segment about Ken Ober and Colin Quinn. Oh, wait.

I'm gonna guess they play The Buggles at some point. It may well represent the first time Music Television has played a music video in quite some time.

Or will they change the name of the channel?
Tell me you're not this out of touch with the concept of "brand recognition".

On a semi-related note, what ever happened to those Remote Control episodes that were supposed to air on VH1 (or was it VH1 classic)?
Enjoy lots and lots of backstage TPIR photos and other fun stuff here. And yes, I did park in Syd Vinnedge's parking spot at CBS

They still play them in the early AM hours, as does VH1, but that's about it for regular videos in recent years.

Wow.
"They're both Norman Jewison movies, Troy, but we did think of one Jew more famous than Tevye."

Now celebrating his 22nd season on GSF!

I thought you knew it all.  They actually did this big MTV 20 shindig, televised ad nauseam.  I remember because it was one of Aaliyah's last apperances.
