Game show formats that wouldn't last no matter WHO is the host

The connection word game in the early eps was about like the tossup questions on "Gambit" and "HR" without the trick of withholding information to encourage early buzz-ins.

The second Q&A format seemed to be more like wacky "Squares" questions, like the second "Jackpot" format--Bolen seemed to be convinced that they could work without scripted one-line responses from celeb panelists.

I assume you're talking about Blank Check?  How exactly did that work anyway?  They never had celebrities on that show as far as I can remember.  Did they have contestants give the one-liners?  I remember watching episodes with the different format but after all these years I just can't remember how it went.

No one-liners--just wacky questions with magazine attributions.  As I said, Bolen seemed to think that they would work without joke answers.
