  • Still crazy after all these years.
If anybody's seen the latest round of Dr. Pepper commercials, one of them includes a Jeopardy!-like set (a fairly faithful reproduction), with a contestant answering a question with the number 23 (and getting it wrong, obviously).

Now, the second is about as obscure a reference as could be...

...but I have a question about it.

For those of you who've seen it, the Ford commercial featuring Taylor Hicks, at least from my observant eyes, appears to have been shot on the Millionaire set.

Can anyone either confirm or deny that?
I suppose you can still learn stuff on TLC, though it would be more in the Goofus & Gallant sense, that is (don't do what these parents did)"- Travis Eberle, 2012

I've seen it (one too many times), as well as some behind the scenes stuff on it, featuring some chromakey screens ("green screens") in the background. I'm pretty sure it wasn't Millionaire's set. The platform Taylor dances on is a little too high up.

Are you serious?

No, it's not the Millionaire set.

Okay. Easy on the snip, Connecti-Matt. Honest mistake.

At the risk of making this more than it should be, I don't think it was. I've seen the commercial plenty of times, and I can only assume that you've seen Millionaire plenty of times. The two are simply not the same. Not even close.

But i'll withdraw the snip to make peace.

(and, BTW, Taylor's sure doing car ads quickly after AI. Soul Patrol? More like Soul-ed out Patrol.)

I figured that one of the contracts the AI finalists sign says that Ford and Coke essentially own their souls for the first few months.
