Dunking?  Only applies if someone threw basketballs or doughnuts at you for the (bad) joke.  Or both.  :)

Maybe he's watching the WNBA game.

Oh, wait. "Dunking". Never mind. :)

Here's a thought:  The grand prize should be raised to $50,000.  If 2 contestants get 200 points on the nose in Fast Money Bonus Round, then that family should win $100,000.  What do you think?

Although I find it hard to believe that you haven't seen virtually identical suggestions savaged on this board in the past, I feel like offering a (relatively) civil response.

Why not $500,000? That's even more exciting.

This would not even begin to fit into Feud's budget, unless they made Fast Money much much harder. And the contestants are ecstatic to win $20,000 as it is.

And if they alternate giving #1 answers, question to question, they could win $250,000.

This is another huge amount of money, which would be given out (ticks off on fingers) rarely, arbitrarily, purely by luck, and with no small amount of confusion. Will O'Hurley need to remind the contestants of the potential Sooper Jackpot every time they get close? "You need 36 points to win, and remember! Exactly 36 points wins even more! So be ready to be even more excited!"

If they were to change the fast money prize structure (hope they don't),  at least adopt the format from down under (Bert's FF) with some mods...

No #1's...$10,000
1 #1...$15,000
2 #1...$20,000
3 #1...$25,000
4 #1...$35,000
5 #1...$50,000

Wait...they already give away a flat $20,000, and you're actually offering the possibility of lowering the jackpot?

The Fast Money stays at $20,000, but the first person to get all #1 answers gets the honor of going to Karn's house with a shovel and, right before hitting him upside the head, yell "Double this!"  Of course, if you say "I guess I drew first blood!" immediately after, you forfeit the money.

I just saw a promo for the new season on a UPN station I usually don't have on.  I think purists are going ot be a little freaked out over this audience-in-the-round business.  Those people really don't look like they belong back there.  Also, from the very few, very fleeting camera shots they showed, the set looks tiny.  The set may very well BE tiny, but I thought a fundamental rule for a director in this sort of thing was to make it look bigger.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

Then again...in Peter Marshall's book, he relates how the first Hollywood Squares home game had his picture on the box cover, giving him a few more bucks ... and Heatter/Quigley made sure THAT didn't happen with future editions.
[/quote]

Unfortunately, our friend Mr. Marshall appears to have a rather fuzzy memory on this subject.  First, his picture did not appear on the first HS home game.  The first two editions, produced by Watkins-Strathmore in the late 60s, both had cartoonish-type artwork and no actual pictures of any persons.  The next home game released was by Ideal in 1974.  This one did include Peter's photo on the cover.  (The inclusion of the photo must have been the idea of the graphic arts department at Ideal as they also included a photo of Monty Hall on their 1974 home game of "Let's Make A Deal").  The next home game was release d in 1980 by Milton Bradley.  The box cover featured only a jumbo version of the HS logo and the various cartoon drawings of the "celebs" used in the game.  I am quite certain though that H/Q had nothing to do with Peter Marshall's photo appearing or not on this version.  MB had not used actual host photos on any of their game show board game releases in many years (the last, I believe, being their release of High Rollers in 1975 with Trebek on the cover).  Finally, I really do have my doubts that H/Q would have concerned themselves with the few pennies that Peter Marshall might have received if his photo had appeared on a 2nd HS home game.  Considering he helped to keep their flagship program afloat for more than 10 years on network, I doubt they would have been so petty.

But that's just my opinion...

I can do one better.  Here are a few clips of some rounds courtesy of YouTube.

Feud on YouTube

O'Hurley is really impressive, I am absolutely shocked and amazed.  Also, as far as I have heard as of last night, the payouts stay the same ($20K/$5 a point).
