To the best of my knowledge, a Canadian show that airs in the US must have a Canadian on-air talent. That explains the witty banter at the end of the show. Actually, not quite sure about the "airs in the US" part.

I give you the Canadian Content (or CanCon) breakdown, provided by your friends at Wikipedia.

Nutshell, if it's gonna air in Canada, a percentage of the on-air content must be of Canadian origin. Has nothing to do with whether it airs in the US or not.

we thank that law for giving us Dusty on the 80's version of "Lingo",  Marilyn (and the other girl) on "Love Me, Love Me Not" and the ever popular Mary Lou on "Super Pay Cards".

And all of the models that weren't Gail Sheldon on "Beat the Clock."

(It seems to me that for the first few tapings in Montreal, they brought other models with them until it was pointed out that they needed Canadian talent on camera.)

Poutine.

Unless "poltrine" is poutine with chicken in it. :)

Thanks Chris for your research, for exposing me to something I'd never heard of, well, I guess I'm not exposed to it exactly, which might be unpleasant, but thanks for bringing world cultures closer together. How wonderful for "Chain Reaction" to bring that about.

The more people who know about poutine, God's own gift to the culinary community, the better off we are as a society. It's so good in an artery clogging way. :)

Amen to that!  No trip to Canada is complete without a visit to Harvey's for poutine.   Try it, you'll like it! :)

That "other girl" on Love Me, Love Me Not was Jane MacDougall, who was on during its first season before Marilyn replaced her.

Harvey's was fairly mediocre poutine, though probably as good as it gets when it comes to poutine from a fast-food place. I had mine at a place called Betty's Kitchen on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. THAT was some good poutine. :)

Sorry to bump the thread, but I had another question. How did the $40,000 Chain Reaction Tournament format actually work?

Marilyn Smith, in fact. Actually, wasn't that a mid-season switch-out? I thought LMLMN only lasted one year.

Why do you care so much? Seriously. You're asking about minutiae about a 20 year old game show. You're not asking about how the game was played, but rather, something just about EVERYBODY in 2006 either couldn't care less about, or didn't need to know.

Are you trying to impress someone with your Chain Reaction knowledge? A bowling buddy? A girl? Cause this isn't the way to go.

I suspect the...shall we say...slower members of our community want to feel like they are participating, but then realize they have nothing to say. So they make up questions like this so they can feel like they are a part of the "discussion".
