Interviews From The Academy
« on: August 26, 2006, 11:30:59 AM »
The Academy Of Television Arts & Sciences has partnered with Google to make available interviews of notable figures in television. There's quite a roster of game show folks, including Betty White, Dick Clark, Bob Barker, and Ira Skutch. The entire list (as of now; it's expanding) is at http://www.emmys.org/foundation/archive/interviews.php. Enjoy it.

I know this has been mentioned before on our forum, but to my mind, it can't be mentioned enough.  These interviews are exceptional oral histories of television, and there is no small amount of game show information contained in them as well, sometimes in unusual places.  Alan Alda essentially credits his game show appearances (esepcially What's My Line?) with launching his career.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
