ABC Password Lightning Round Game Control
« on: September 05, 2006, 09:18:00 PM »
Jamie's post of the ABC Password finale got me thinking that creating a PC version of the Lightning Round wouldn't be too tough. I did some experimenting today and I wanted to post the result.

This is a basic first go, but it's pretty functional as is. I would very much like to enhance this, but I thought perhaps the group could provide feedback on what works well and what could be better.

I already plan to:
* Add sounds & artwork
* POSSIBLY add a scoring feature

I am more than open to suggestions, but I'm not a programmer so my limited skills in this arena may prevent me from implementing what would otherwise be a good suggestion. :) I'd like to make it as faithful as possible to the real thing, so if anyone knows where I can get the right fonts, etc., that info would be appreciated.

Anywho...here it is. I do have to apologize for the location of the file now. I don't own webspace. If you get the exceed bandwidth message and would like to receive the file via e-mail, I'm very happy to send it your way if you drop me a line. It's a 900K zip.

Hope you enjoy! Would appreciate comments and feedback. Thanks!!

Not a bad job!

As for the exact fonts, this one will help:

Can't find a good one for the timer, though.

Thanks so much. Really appreciate the lead on the word font. I already have some ideas to make the timer look a bit more authentic as well.

Bryan, that ABC Password Lightning Round game is great! It is a faithful recreation of the set that they had from November 18, 1974 when they did Password All-Stars ( it went back to the old format on February 18,1975) to its end on 6/ 27/1975. I am glad you used the voice of the legendary Allen Ludden in the game. A good way to honor a great MC.  And this year is the 35th anniversary of the debut of the ABC version and on 10/2, it will be the 45th anniversary of the debut of the original Password on CBS .
