BWO - The Bud Collyer Renaissance

BWO fan alert - We are in the home stretch of the nighttime TTTT's - call it if you will the \"Collyer Rennaisance\", or \"Bud II\".  Nighttime TTTT has returned from its hiatus.  Based on Saturday's show, the celebrity guest isn't an every week thing.  For some odd reason, and it isn't just the new back wall, this episode and Saturday's had a different feeling.  They seem more rote, colder and more distant in contacting with the viewer.  Only Orson seems to be really trying to add some personality to the thing.
I saw the Bette Davis show once at the Museum of Broadcasting.  That tape includes an original commercial featuring Bette discussing her favorite orange juice she says she looks forward to having every day - which just happens to be a product of new TTTT sponsor General Foods.  What a lucky coincidence.  Yes, Miss Davis, similar to Orson Welles and John Houseman, seemed to transform from mega star to pitchman.  (The sight of mega producer-turned-Professor Kingsfield on a roller coaster talking about investment brokerages is still frightening.)
