What's the deal with GSN and the Nancy Lane/Robert Reed week of "Password Plus"? After skipping it at least three times during different cycles, they finally showed the first two episodes last week...only to skip the remaining three and jump to the Judy Norton-Taylor/Ron Masak week today. There shouldn't be any clearance issues; Nancy and Robert have both been shown on different games on the network. Any speculation?

While I'm on the subject, I saw some (in my opinion) bogus calls last week on those two days. In one instance, they accepted the contestant's answer of "bath" for the password BATHTUB. These are two completely different words; "bath" is not a form of "bathtub." In another instance, the contestant answered "Edward Kennedy" when the password was EDWARD. Allen Ludden asked the contestant what his answer was, and the contestant replied, "Edward," which the judge accepted. The way I see it, if they were going to have two-word passwords on the show (which is a totally separate gripe for me), then they have to accept "Edward Kennedy" as his answer, not "Edward." I know that there was no word authority on the show, but these seem like obvious errors in judgment to me. Anyone else think so?

Man, times like these, it would be great if one of our moderators used to work on "Password Plus"...

If I were the judge, I still would've given it to him. While there may have been a bit of extraneous information attatched, the first word out of his mouth was "Edward", which was indeed the desired word. I would've given credit and moved on.

Synching up with the days, maybe? Monday shows airing on Monday?

Best I can tell.

Password Plus's greatest flaw IMO was not having Dr. Stockwell or some other word authority back to keep the basic password playing of the game challenging.

I wonder if since three eps were not shown that the tape housing those eps was unable to be converted.  I seem to recall seeing that master tapes contained three eps.

As to why they aired the first two eps last week after skipping them previously, I'm not sure.  Perhaps GSN's attitude this time around (assuming that those two were able to be converted and the others not) was, "We got 'em--we might as well show 'em."  Speculation.

A number questionable calls were made on P+. A word authority wouldn't have helped because he/she was only concerned with the acceptability of clues, not answers.

"Bath" is not an acceptable response when the password is "bathtub", I agree.

Not only were the Password Plus episodes skipped, 11 episodes of Body Language were also skipped this morning.  They started today with a Tuesday episode.

They always skip those eps. I think they skip the one week because Betty Thomas is on them. (They also skipped her "Password Plus" episodes.) For the other week, I would guess that Fern Fitzgerald didn't clear her appearances; Roger E. Mosley was the other celeb, and we've seen him a lot on GSN. Why they always skip the Monday episode of the Mary Ann Mobley/Nathan Cook week, I have no idea.

P+ would've avoided a lot of grief if they enforced Form-of-the-word.  Plurals are okay when they're word+s, but otherwise you need the right form.

I was also not a big fan of two-word passwords.

Doug's right in that there are three episodes per tape.  I think GSN purposly skips entire tapes if there are any episodes on there that haven't been cleared, which would lead to parts of other weeks (such as the Mary Ann Mobley/Nathan Cook episode) also being skipped.

Again...speculation...but this kind of thing has happened in others instances on GSN too.

Why would they skip her episodes?  Is there a clearance issue or some other reason?

Marilee Stone played Body Language? Daggone, I didn't know she made any game show appearances. Those would've been interesting to see. Wonder why she doesn't want them shown. Pity.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't she on the premiere week of MGHS (or some very early week)?

Not that those would ever see the light of day broadcastwise.

One would think they stand at least a small chance, considering that half of the show is the Greatest Game Show Of All Time, Dammit(tm).
