An inquiring mind has asked me, so I'm putting it to you...the experts.
Were there ever occasions on Truth Or Consequences where celebrities were included as part of the proceedings, rare as they might have been?

Absolutely. Famous people abounded, particularly on the Barker version and sometimes also on Bob Hilton's version, to help participate in the goings on.

And long before that - one of the highlights of the old radio T or C was various identify-a-celeb contests with listeners sending in answers along with donations for the Heart Fund or other charities. The only one I remember at this moment was Jack Benny as "the walking man" - they would read a clue while Benny's footsteps were heard in the background.
This isn't a plug, but you can ask me about my book.

There was one I remember where Barker's wife was on.  They had a gag where they'd ask 3 ladies personal questions about Bob and only his wife was supposed to get it right, having the other 2 wonder why she knew so much about him.  Needless to say, the first two questions she didn't know the answer to, causing Bob to say something like "...this is really going well, don't you think..."

According to Maxene Fabe, Edwards started the contests to mock "Stop the Music," which was killing in the radio ratings back then, as no program on radio had given away the prizes that it gave away.  The first one was Miss Hush, which I believe was the dancer and choreographer Martha Graham.  (Yeah, on a show like "T or C.")  This was so successful that Edwards decided to make them fund-raisers (although you didn't have to contribute money to enter, but you had to write a 50-word-or-less statement on why this charity was worth supporting).  Then there was Mrs. Hush, Mr. Hush, Mr. & Mrs. Hush and The Walking Man (which was Benny because "he's too cheap to drive!").  There were probably others, but those were the most well-known.
