I think Patrick Wayne was coached improperly on how to host a game show.  Someone (Dan Enright, maybe?) told him to be overly enthusiastic and being an actor, Pat was just following directions.  Dan should have told Pat to tone it down after the first week but obviously did not.

Pat was quite subdued on "The Monte Carlo Show," as I recall.
