I've never seen such rage over a show that hasn't even aired yet!:

Sounds like someone who just doesn't like game shows in the first place. Of course he isn't going to like 1 vs. 100.

The trivia questions are heavily loaded with pop culture questions, many of which initially concern shows carried by NBC or one of its cable channels, or movies made by its film division, Universal.

OMGWTFBBQ POP CULTURE QUESTIONS

That's the sanest response I can come up with.  It's just as well thought out as the review.  For more sensible scathing reviews, stay tuned to the GSF Friday night.  Nothing to see here otherwise.

Well, you haven't read much TV criticism then.  That review was relatively tame, and it's clear the guy likes Jeopardy and doesn't like this, so I don't think you can automatically say this is some kind of anti-game vendetta. It's also obvious that he's seen the episodes he's talking about and not basing his opinion on press releases and thirty-second promos like the rest of us have bene doing.

Here's a second negative review.  They're probably going to be pretty common:

Should we be linking to these articles, talking about them, etc., without mentioning that they contain spoilers? I have a rather snarky reply to the NY Daily News reviewer's pronouncement about what it would take to know a certain bit of movie knowledge, but . . .

A slightly better review from the Chicago Tribune.
Bonus points for use of the word "affable."

Having lived in Buffalo for a time and read many of Mr. Pergament's various reviews, previews and assorted rants, I feel comfortable saying that I'd be surprised if there was anything he actually did like.

(Disclaimer: my research supervisor at the time was one of Mr. Pergament's occasional targets.  However, I don't believe that this leads to any bias on my part, as pretty much everyone in local news was one of his targets.)

*sigh* Yet again, the press (and somehow even I) was provided with a screener copy of the first episode.  We know how the first episode goes and looks.  Personally, I enjoyed it.  How someone can like DoND and not 1 vs 100 is beyond me, because at least 1 vs 100 actually has a game and, oh, no ponies.  Then again, DoND looks like an incredible feat of TV compared to GSN's Chain Reaction IMO, so I don't know.

I'd probably be in a grouchy mood too, if I were living in a city where October thundersnow was being predicted for this Thursday into Friday.

It seems that people tend to shrug off those negative reviews as just fodder material.  Of course, DoND had scathing reviews & look where it's at.  I won't be surprised if 1 vs. 100 does well because as I said in another thread, what else is on outside the baseball playoffs?

However, if more negative reviews pop up, I might reconsider this new show.  We'll just have to wait & see how this pans out.

Tundersnow in October eh?  Glad I'm not in western New York or that ain't the only thing I'll be worrying about.

Yes, but WNY has Kevin O'Connell to report on the snow!  "GO for the Snow Blower!"... "Would you like the top or bottom set of closings?"

Here's a nice bio of him, and look, an e-mail address for K.O. too!  Someone should write and tell him how he did on our game show host favorites list (and maybe that we remember him for GO! at all??)

What a shame that someone with such an illustrious career in the #2 market and with network exposure finds himself relegated to local weather in the #49 market (with apologies to all the Buffaloneans who may read this).

Another not-so-hot review, courtesy of the Chicago Sun Times' Doug Elfman.

Minor spoilers in the article, so read at your own risk.
