I'm just curious. Looking through the Eligibility Requirements for UK Millionaire over at itv.com, I didn't see anything saying you have to be a British citizen to be a contestant. Can people living outside the UK be contestants?

Maybe Jeff has dual citizenship, who knows?

There was a guy named Patty Spooner that somehow got to be on THREE versions of "Millionaire". The Aussie, UK and Irish versions. I think all you really need is some sort of visa or work permit to appear on these shows.

Yeah, but good luck with those 1000 pound questions on football and Coronation Street.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.

True this. Then again, if you can manage your way past them, some of their higher-level questions have been quite easy, or at least pointed towards American knowledge. For example, "What is the English translation of the Latin motto of the United States?" or "What is the name for a number one with 100 zeroes?"

Since this topic has come up, I'll ask a related question:  I could certainly see a lot of interest for a U.S. citizen to want to go on Temptation/SOTC in Australia.  Is there any rule on these shows that bars U.S. citizens (or any non-Australian citizens, in general) from competing on these shows?

Another related question:  are there any countries which have citizenship requirements like U.S. game shows do?

I would like to try out for UK Deal or No Deal, but the conversion from pounds to dollars would impede my progress.

Jeff Gross lived in England when he was originally on the UK show.  He has since moved to the U.S. and was on the U.S. syndicated edition.  He has a Web site at www.wwtbam.biz.  But I don't know the eligibility requirements in England.

So would half the UK. I think their backlog of applicants is several thousand. Good luck.

For me, the ol' Fame Game would be a problem.
