My favorite example yet of booboo just not getting the hang of the shift key.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

That's just one of a long line of things he hasn't gotten the hang of.

However, I firmly believe it is possible to cast an emcee who will do a perfectly creditable job with the show. You know who my choice is.

And I think it's a fantastic idea. I don't think it will HAPPEN, mind you, but it's a brilliant idea and it would sure as hell get me watching Price again. Hell, he's the only reason I took the slighest bit of interest in Dancing With The Stars.

/okay, Stacy Keibler didn't hurt

Don't look at me - I only watched it for Kenny Mayne.
(ObGS-Kenny Mayne hosted 2 Minute Drill.)
Come to think of it...
"So yeah, you won a buncha stuff. I'm Kenny Mayne and thank you for watching daytime television."
This isn't a plug, but you can ask me about my book.

Now that Mr. Barker is retiring, I wonder if Fremantle will retire Mark Goodson's name as well.

This is the biggest career opportunity in television since Carson left The Tonight Show. Anyone who lacks the sense to take it probably doesn't deserve it.

I'm serious.  I need a job. :-)

I speak for the entire group when I say I'm up to sweet sixteen hundred posts!  But I can't speak for the group when I say "Bears repeating."  There are Seahawks fans on this board. :-D

Just a few random thoughts and observations about this impending event:

As nice as it might be to see TPIR continue with a new host, remember what happened when Who Do You Trust? and Two For The Money got new hosts after Carson and Shriner left, as well as both attempts to have other comics try to fill Groucho's shoes in seperate You Bet Your Life revivals.

Sadly. I have to say I'm at a loss for a practical answer over who should replace Barker as host.  The ones that I feel would have done well have all pretty much retired from hosting themselves.  And I don't know many younger current stars by name who'd be good replacements.  It's really too bad that Jerry Springer and Maury Povich may well be locked out of doing this sort of daytime job.  It would be a more respectable job for either one (and actually, I thought Springer's show was suppose to leave the air by now; none of my local stations currently get either one of those talk shows, and I don't think I'm missing anything).

Anyone ever thought of having an em-shee precide over TPIR?

No, it really isn't.

"Neither of them do respectable work, and I can say that because I don't watch either show."

Wow.

Italy had one, so it's not a far-off concept. But I wonder who would be a good choice in that case...

So, what will they do with Barker's Bargain Bar and Barker's Markers?  Would they retire the games or change them to something like... Newton's Croutons, if Todd got the job?

So is anyone planning an official GSF TPIR gathering in L.A. to see the show before his finale?

I was told several years ago, no female host or announcer.

Although with Barker leaving, anything is fair game.
Enjoy lots and lots of backstage TPIR photos and other fun stuff here. And yes, I did park in Syd Vinnedge's parking spot at CBS
