In the "yet another two cents" category, Jimmy Pardo was on the Bob and Tom radio show this morning.  He mentioned:
A) Having been at Game Show Congress,
Really?  Does anyone who was at the Congress remember this?  I never heard he was there.
He was at the Congreff WMLL.  Wouldn't have known it if not for one of the other attendees introducing me.

But he misquoted me.  :)

Mr. Pardo actually mentioned it a couple of months ago on his podcast--he certainly seemed sincere enough.

I almost mentioned it then, but, well . . . I think the man is funny, and I love his podcast, but he's not quite the game show fan's friend.

Whomever they get will be someone they'll have to give time to.  Its going to take whomever time to make the job their own, regardless of who they get.

I'd also bet we'll also see TPIR-HD next year as well.

Now we know why Bob will be calling it a career. Imagine how he would look in hi-def!

Fremantle could do worse than to coax Wolpert back, at least as a consultant.
What? And throw away all that good "Pirates of the Carribean" money? Like it or not, I think Jay Wolpert is out of the game show biz for good.

My hunch is that Jay would wind up as a Fremantle puppet, if MG 98 was any indication.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel makes recommendations...

Note: I don't like ANY of them.

Just scanning over the names, the article seems more of a put-on than anything.

Tiki > Rolf, but the article's definitely tongue-in-cheek.

My vote goes to David Naughton. Either him or Ricky Martin.

Sorry for chiming in with a "gut reaction" reply so late, but I just now came across this news.  Personally, I did have visions of Bob doing the show until he died (which I've always believed is years away).  Nevertheless, now that the news has come, I am actually glad he will be leaving while he's still in good health.  Sheesh.  Look at the other celebrities at 80+ years of age, and it's amazing he's lasted this long.  It will be very, very nice to actually have Bob present and accounted for during the huge tribute they're going to give him at the end of his Price career.  I can only imagine the kind of stops they'll be pulling for his big send-off -- celebrity farewells, classic Price clips we haven't seen aired in forever, extended on-camera appearances from people like Roger Dob., Fingers Grecko, and Rich Fields.  I'd also love to see Bob make a cameo appearance every now and then as the show continues without him in full swing.

Think the taping schedule will pick up after Bob's replaced by someone with a bit more energy?  Didn't they used to tape two shows every day?  I've just got to get down to see the show at least once before Bob reminds us to help control the pet population for the final time.

Barker's retirement is going to save CBS/Fremantle millions. They will no doubt go back to taping two shows per day, three days per week. I estimate the fourth taping day each week costs them well over a million per year just to light up the studio. Six shows in three days vs. five shows in four days is going to save them big time, and it will open up studio 33 to other clients on Thursdays. Time was when TPIR was in the studio three days per week, another game show could knock out 10 (or 20 in the case of Pyramid) shows on Thursday and Friday and yet another game show on Saturday and Sunday. The problem is, there aren't as many game shows going any more :-)

Put my vote down for Bergeron.

Can't believe so many want Summers, a plank has more personality from what I've seen. Just wrong for Price.
