You know, while we knew it was coming eventually, isn't it a little nice that we'll know what the end date will be then just having a sudden stop, and also that Bob will get the sendoff he deserves, and more importantly, he'll be around to see it?

It should be pointed out that just because he set an end date does not 100% mean that he will be there to see it. Just like there is not a 100% chance that any of us will see the end.

Good lord. And your screen name is "tpirFAN" ? What a friggin killjoy.

You know what? I'm not slamming Bob or anything by stating that point. I'm not dissing the show or health in general. Here's my point. Bob has had health troubles in the past, and he is in his older years. There is a greater possibility that something really severe could happen to him. He's had strokes. He has/had a clogged artery. It is a grand testament to him that he's survived all that.
And before you get all pissy with me saying "You can't say anything about that"...back off. I've had a relative that has survived cancer AND a stroke and is still alive today, but yet I've had a relative die suddenly of a heart attack while middle-aged. Just becuase he said "I want to go out on top, and while I'm still young" or whatever exactly he said doesn't grant him immunity. I'm just like the rest of you guys...I want to see him live to 100 or more (and he probably will).
I just interpreted weaklink75's statment as since he declared that he was done, he was guaranteed to see the end. If I offended anyone, I apologize. Just because I see things in more of a grim light than you doesn't give you free reign to go all crazy on me.

No offense taken...I meant that, if it went well, he'll be able to go out the way he wants to and also (hopefully) help choose his successor, unlike what happened to Jack Barry (who,
According to this page, if he hadn't had his heart attack, would have picked Jim Peck as his replacement for the 84-85 season of TJW instead of Bill Cullen).
