Jeopardy! Double Run
« on: September 08, 2003, 06:40:19 PM »
Starting about a couple weeks ago. My NBC Affilate (WHO TV13)has started to show Jeopardy! twice a day at 4:00 to 5:00 PM CST. Currently the first one is the 19th season and the next one is the brand-new 20th season.

In fact, to go slightly OT here, WHO is very friendy with game shows:

(Times in CST)
11:00 AM: Pyramid
11:30 AM: Weakest Link
  3:00 PM: Pyramid (diffrent ep)
  3:30 PM: H2: Hollywood Squares
  4:00 PM: Jeopardy! 19th Season
  4:30 PM: Jeopardy! 20th Season
  6:30 PM: Wheel of Fortune

Least friendly is CBS (KCCI Channel 8) which just has TPIR

In the middle is ABC (WOI TV5) with Family Feud at 4:00 PM and WWTBAM? at 4:30 PM.

Oh yeah, back on topic: Does anybody else get Jeopardy! twice-a-day ?

WVEC in Norfolk used to do something like that in the mid-90s. The current season ep. aired at 7:30 pm, and a prev. season rerun aired at 12:30 am.

I believe the ABC station in the DC/MD area also did a double run in the 91-92 season. They aired a 90-91 season ep. at noon or so, and the new eps. in the evening.
"They're both Norman Jewison movies, Troy, but we did think of one Jew more famous than Tevye."

Now celebrating his 22nd season on GSF!

Detroit (WDIV 4) has done it for at least five years at 12:30 and 7:30.
Portions of this post not affecting the outcome have been edited or recreated.

WPVI in Philly did do a Double run of J! from 1985-88, an episode from the previous season would air at 11AM(for Fall 1986 it was at 4PM right before Rafferty CS), while a new episode would air at 7PM as it does now. WPXI in Pittsburgh did it for a bit in the early 90s.

My station is apparently taking the wrong half of any double-run: they showed the first semifinal of the MDM tournament again, instead of the 20th season premiere. Rrgh.

Our CBS affifliate(WNEM) once had a double run last year, rerun at 10:00 AM, First-Run at 7:00 PM. But, WDIV 4 still has theirs, rerun at 12:30, First-Run at 7:30.

I think a double run would be great, but they should go back more than just one season, but then this could have something to do with the runs on game show network.
Has Wheel of Fortune ever done this, after the daytime run ended?  And speaking of the daytime run, in Eastern Iowa the NBC affiliate used to swap the 10AM show and the 11:30 AM show, and run Wheel at 11:30.  What other times did NBC stations run it at?

Daytime WOF aired on KYW 3(NBC at the time, now CBS) at 3:30PM or 4PM from 1985-89(through the end of the first NBC Daytime run). WPXI in Pittsburgh also aired in the afternoons around this period. At the time, KDKA had the Syndie version at 5:30PM(syndie WOF moved to WPXI in 1987 as did J!, which was also on KDKA prior to that)
