Geoff Edwards originally offered Family Feud

I was reading on wikipedia about Family Feud and ut said the hosting role was originally offered to Geoff Edwards but he was committed to Shoot For the Stars. I also saw on the gameshow utopia site that Geoff himself said he was offerd it and didn't think family feud would be that sucessful.

Interesting, if true.  I don't think I ever saw Geoff on a Goodson show, even as a panelist.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

This is the first I've ever heard of it. Ira Skutch says Goodson had been looking for a vehicle for Richard and that FF was the first one that felt "right" for him. In my entire time there, Geoff Edwards' name never came up in any context, whether as a panelist or guest celebrity or an emcee of a pilot or series. That's not to say he wouldn't have been good at any of those things, his name just never came up. At the time the powers that be liked Pat Sajak and Bob Hilton. Bobby Sherman liked Jon Bauman.

What was Geoff Edwards doing circa 1979 - 1980?

Wasn't Jack Narz's name in the running as well, or am I incorrect?

The wiki writers are probably obtaining the source info from this post Geoff made some years ago on ATGS.

I remember that, and I'm sure Jamie's right.

I'm guessing his name might have been knocked around in the very, very early planning stages (like late 1975?).  I suppose it's possible Stewart had Geoff Edwards on sort of a retainer as he did Bill Cullen -- but given he was also doing The New Treasure Hunt at the time, I can't believe that was an ironclad contract.  (Maybe he had a no-compete deal with NBC, just as Tom Kennedy had for awhile.)

Maybe it was the perm.
