CS (Perry)...time for the Christmas Spirit...
« on: December 11, 2006, 03:47:36 PM »
A very "interesting" episode of CS78 was on today, featuring a dressed up G2T2. Did GSN decide to go backwards with the episodes (from July 79 all the back to December 78), or was this apparently done in hopes of promoting the Christmas Spirit?

Probably for the Christmas spirit since they did the same thing for Family Feud (Dawson & Combs).

At least GSN's trying to match up the holidays now.  In their early years, they ran the episodes chronologically no matter what, and sometimes Christmas episodes would appear in July.  I remember Laura Chambers commenting on it once, saying something like "you never know what holiday it's going to be around here!"

It's nice to see holiday episodes around the holidays, but they should still be run chronilogically too.  I don't mind seeing holiday episodes in July.  It's actually kind of fun.

Another interesting note about this week of shows--the champion is Kathy Bell, who was married at that time to a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers (could very well have been Theo Bell, who passed away this past summer).

Those 1978-79 Pittsburgh Steelers were awfully good.

Ahh yes, the 1978 Steelers, who kept my Dallas Cowboys from winning another Super Bowl. >:o

/Yes, I was a Cowboys fan four seasons before I was born. :-P

It also seemed like earlier this year GSN was lining up episodes of at least Super Password, almost to the day.  It was easier to tell Super Password than others, because Bert had a tendency to say what day it was.

/Dallas sucks. :P

Speaking of which, SP went back to 12/24/84 and 12/25/84 today.  Whether this means GSN is going to run Xmas episodes of SP's five Xmases all week remains to be seen.  There are several other possibilites.  I don't feel like going into them now.  You can't make me.

Password Plus has also gone the holiday episodes route which is fine but will there be any resuming of the Fabray/Schuck episodes....two great players, one big moneymaker and this viewer is left hanging by what will happen next...any chance to go back to the run after the Christmas episodes are through?

Don't know the answer, but I'll dovetail this question with another.

Normally I tape P+, but I wanted to get this week's TPiRs on tape.  Which week of P+ are they showcasing at this point?

It's the week of Dec. 17-21, 1979. Barbara Rhoades and Bill Anderson are the celebs.

If you don't mind me asking a question...I've been taping this weeks Combs & Dawson Feud at 5 & 5:30. Anyone know what year they're from? I'm relatively sure Combs is from 1990, but have no idea what Dawson's is.
