BuzzerBlog has reported that Rossi Morreale will host "Temptation(s)".

Nuts...there went my dreams that the great Jim Perry would come out of retirement...:(.

However, I'm going to be optimistic here and hope that the host can at least competently read questions.  If he can do that, I'll be happy.  I think it's interesting that they're going with a relatively unknown personality here, especially with the trend to hire people already well-established in show business.

Hey; it could be worse..."And now, here's the star of Temptation:  Louie Anderson!"

(shudder)  I shouldn't have even suggested that; I hope Fremantle isn't reading this!

Anthony

P.S.  Does anybody know if there were other names being tossed about for host?
You have da Arm-ee and da Leg-ee!

They don't anymore (as a quick check of TiVo could tell you) and to the best of my knowledge they haven't in a very long time.  Wiki says they stopped using "Turner Time" in 1997, for whatever that's worth.

No clue. I turn on TBS maybe twice a year, and usually when they have a basketball game I'm interested in. Which is _also_ very rare anymore. (Do they even still _have_ basketball?)

I haven't seen a basketball game on there in a long time...however, they have started showing college football games.  All of the NBA games Turner shows have been relegated to TNT (Thursdays).  It's been that way for at least two, maybe three, years now.

And the only time you'd ever see an NBA game on TBS nowadays would be if one of the TNT games was in a severe overrun (which actually happened last playoffs)...and even then it would only be for a second.

Well, he has experience behind a camera, at least, and he's easy on the eyes.  I'm a little worried, though, about how most of his stuff seems to have a slant towards the male 18-34 demo--something that I doubt Temptation's target will be.  Of course, that might be Fremantle's grand scheme.  Who knows?

I'm sure it could have been worse.  It probably could have been better.  We'll just have to wait and see.  At least he'll be the best-looking host on television.

Okay, what in the holy CRAP are the so-called "geniuses" at Fremantle thinking?  A guy who host movies on TBS and Foody Call on Style Network?!  They have got to be kidding me!  This is just proof that Hollywood simply is relying more on looks than on experience when selecting a host.  Forgive the rant, but I just can't believe the utter IGNORANCE of producers that want to focus on a certain demo more that preserving the dignity of the game.

Rossi who?  The moment I saw that on Alex's site I was like WTF is Freemantle doing?  As far as I'm concerned, they already have one strike against them right there.  Couldn't they at least offered it to the host of the Aussie version?  I guess he wasn't mentioned as a "possible" canidate.  But, as Mike mentioned eerlier, I'm willing to give him a chance.  If he does well, fine.  But, if he doesn't, my expectations will be lowered even further than what they are now.  Let's wait & see what happens when September rolls around.

Can we wait until the show airs and then bash the host?  What if he turns out to be halfway decent?  Judging a book by its cover and all...

I'm sorry, Mike, but I must hereby reject your orders and take them as some joke coming from someone who thinks that Bill Rafferty is actually the king of game shows.  I don't know him, so he'll royally suck.

On a serious note, let's just wait and see before we judge, folks.

One encouraging sign is that they are willing to take a chance on a newcomer to game shows.  As long as they don't refer to the prize area as "Temptation Island."
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

You're kidding? They got that guy from 'Truth or Consequences' to host the new Price is Right? They have got to be kidding me! What is that so-called "genius" Mark Goodson thinking? Damn, my brain's been on slow for a few days.

Rossi was/is a co-host of "Instant Beauty Pageant" on Style with Debbie Matenopoulos (is it even still in production?).  He wasn't bad on that show, but I wonder how working on that show would prepare him for "Temptation".

And, no, this isn't quite the same thing as hiring the guy from "Truth Or Consequences" to host "The Price Is Right".  At least that guy had a lot of hosting experience coming into the job.  Rossi has zilch.

I think part of what the good doctor is trying to say in different terms is stop bitching (not just you) about this host until we actually, you know, SEE THE SHOW.  Y'all would have bitched about a midwestern weatherman trying to take over Chuck Woolery's place on Wheel of Fortune.

You might want to check the setting on your brain again.  "That guy" from Truth or Consequences had practically no TV experience outside that one show when he was picked to host TPIR.  Rossi, as this thread has pointed out, has a lot of TV credits.  True, none of them are very high-profile, but to say theat Barker had "a lot of experience" and that Rossi has "zilch" is patently false.

I know what you're trying to say.  But if we were strictly looking at game show credits, and took into account Bob's 18 year run on TorC (2 years simultaneous with TPIR), and compared it against Rossi, I'd say I'd have a case.  And with "Temptation" being a completely different animal from anything else Rossi has done, as well as being a lot more serious game show, I don't hold out much hope at this time.  That may change.  But I feel putting an absolute game show host novice may not work in this case.

Now before anyone goes postal on me, yes, yes, I know about Karn.  But the "Feud" isn't quite as serious a game as "Temptation" is (in fact, it's nowhere near serious.)

So while I hope he can pull it off, I just don't see this working out.

Calm down, you're looking like a fanb0i. And honestly, you're casting stones before he even hosts the show. Honestly, that's quite ignorant as well.

Look, I'm not fond of the guy's resume, but he could be one of the better hosts we've seen. Mandel and Saget, and to a lesser extent, Osmond* were pleasant surprises. This guy could be more than just a pretty face. And honestly, a lot of MyNetwork stations are getting this show. MNTV's lineup right now is primetime soaps featuring actors who look like Rossi. MNTV is likely trying to court that same audience. You really think they'd drag a 60-something Jim Perry out of retirement for this?

Just because the producers wanted someone young and handsome, it doesn't mean he's gonna pull a Dylan Lane, so step back in off the window ledge and calm down.

*Osmond could've toned it down a bit, tho.
