The Game Show Vault

The Game Show Vault is now open! I'll find some time today to post some new clips on PoC, but I'll mostly be working on putting together the individual pages of which there will be a lot.

The "From the Vault" section will probably be updated the most as new stuff comes in frequently. Some of you will be happy to see some of the listed shows of which remnants were found, like 100 Grand.

It's all explicated on the front page, but to reiterate, there WILL BE downloadable .wmv videos on this page, just like the old days. They certainly won't be entire shows, but some nice fragments they will be.

Allow me to be the first person to say "Thank You."  That site is very well put together, and looks very professional.  I can't wait to see what else is in store! :)

Jamie, excellent stuff. It's looking great already, and I look forward to what else is in store! Good luck, man.

Friendly queston: why is the page a fixed width? Many of us do not browse full-screen, and it's annoying to have to scroll. Forcing a width on your users is kinda presumptuous.

I'm browsing it full-screen at 1024x768 and I still have to scroll to the right.

Jamie's a man ahead of his time -- he's anticipating the day when everyone has 1280x768.

x1024, actually. ;) Which I have (and actually at work I have 1600x1280), but I have to think that the mass majority of people do not browse full-screen. So if you set it up so it wraps, you have the best of both worlds.

I've used 1152 x 864 for such a long time, the side scrolling issue is one matter that I didn't even consider. I'm working on it.
Edit: I've switched to 1024x768 and resized the banner on the home page. I see no side scroll bar.

Today, I caught a glimpse of the newest part of PoC:  www.gameshowvault.com

It listed Jamie's "Top 50 Favorites", but I noticed something unusual:

"$ale of the Century" was listed twice--at #24 and #22.

Possibly, could it be that the 1969-73 version is being included as well?

(Moderator note: Post moved to the already-existing Game Show Vault thread. -DZ)

Oops. That's been corrected. #22 is Scrabble.

Believe it or not, I've got a 1280x768 setting for my card (maybe for widescreens?), but I've never used anything higher than 1024x768.  Still waiting for Santa to bring that 22" LCD.

That's an improvement, but making the whole thing variable width would be way way better. On my site the left column is fixed-width and the right is variable; that seems to me to be exactly what you want to do with this. I did most of my site layout in CSS, so if you don't know it it might be worth trying to learn. It wasn't _that_ hard and it will make your life easier for something as content-heavy as this site is clearly going to be.

(Oh, wait, I think I see. That graphic at the top of the page is determining the minimum width of the cell. Text rewraps if I pull out wider than the graphic, but once I run up against that width, it starts to need scrolling because that is the widest element in the cell. You redesign that into something that isn't so wide, and your problem is fixed. Are you married to those two safes on either side? Losing even one of them would effectively solve the problem.)

Thanks for opening up the Game Show Vault Jamie.  It looks very nice.  Outside of a little side-scroll issue(my computer is set at 640X480 so that I can be able to see large print), it's a very neat-looking package.  Look foward to see what rare gems start popping up.

Another fine reason to do something about that graphic, Jamie. (No, I'm not being sarcastic. I would imagine quite a few web pages are difficult to access if you're sight-impared.)

New page on It's Your Bet has been added.
Can anyone out there who remembers watching the show verify the exact order of the hosts?
Was it March, Kennedy, Gautier, Waggoner? The EOTVGS states that Gautier preceded Tom after Hal stepped down, but a ticket I've acquired from April 16, 1970 suggests the former.
