It seems that you're upset not because we allegedly treat people poorly for not meeting our standards right off the bat, but because we have standards in the first place.
Yes that is it. Give new people a chance to get to the Rules of the forum.
Do you realize that you just contradicted yourself?  But then, you're not consistent about how "bad" the GSN board is, so this isn't surprising.

Quote
Most new people don't even pay attention to the rules. Again I was not trying to be mean. I just want you guys to give the newbies here a little time to get used to stuff. I like the three strikes rule, but just don't do it right away.
Let's see... you "know" how bad the GSN board is... and yet you want us to be more like it.  And we should have rules but not enforce them... because the "bad" GSN board does the same thing.  Er... no.

I'll remind you again that, in the earlier post of yours to which I linked, we'd explicitly said that dad1153 kept breaking rules after being reminded several times -- and you criticized us anyway.  The fact is that you don't want anyone to have to follow the rules here no matter what.  Sorry, but that's not going to happen.  Most of us are adults and we expect that our members will behave like adults.  (That is, after all, the first of our rules -- you know, the ones you want us to have but not enforce.)  And adults, unless they're in politics, follow the rules.

BWAHAHAHAHA

That paragraph's got so many contradictions in it, I'm surprised my monitor hasn't exploded yet.

Is that all you people do for a living? Do you guys just sit and look and make sure every sentence is correct. I thought you people had lives. GOOD BYE!

Translation: you know that your proposal to have rules but not enforce them really is as contradictory (not to mention outright silly) as it sounds, so rather than try to defend it (or to explain how that really wasn't what you were saying), you're going to pretend that this is about spelling and grammar, then take your ball and go home.

We don't expect perfection or anything close to it, but we do expect more of our members than the GSN board does.  If you can't meet those expectations, then perhaps you're better off there, as "bad" as you said it is.

You know, there's a lot I could say to you, but because I actually know how to follow the rules, I won't.

You need help. You come here attacking people for making smart-aleck comments, then when you get called out, you start whining and trying to make everyone else the bad guy. Maybe if you'd take accountability for your actions, and stop crying, you'd get somewhere here. By the way, running is a cowardly move, esp. when you'll be right back to bitch about how bad this forum is.

Hint: you don't know nearly as much as you do, so you're only making yourself look like a dumbass. Go on, call me names, because I know you'll be back, and you do too.

Amusingly enough, since I'm a copy editor, sitting and looking and making sure every sentence is correct is exactly what I do for a living.

Hey, same here!  City newspaper editor.

Give that one 10 minutes before he start spouting bad things about this place at the other boards.

Not exactly spouting bad things, but he seems to be trying to set someone else up do do it for him.

That topic has to be the most insipid idea for a thread I've ever seen.  But by FAR, the BEST part was when Xavier serves it up, and the next guy says "No," and asks another question. Nothing like "My gawd this is a stupid topic," or "No, why do you ask," just "No."

Five years, really? Oy.
