What does "Godwin'd a thread" mean? I like to know what trails I'm blazing!

"Godwin's Law" states that as an Internet message thread gets longer, the probability of someone comparing something or someone else to Hitler or the Nazis approaches 1.
So it's been extrapolated that, in an argument, when someone commits this fatal error, the other side may invoke Godwin's Law and claim victory.
So the act of invoking Hitler is "Godwinning a thread." Don't worry, you did nothing wrong, it was a joke.

How funny - I did not know this. Thanks for filling me in. Not that - to clarify - I was
comparing my dad with Hitler, you understand! The poor man can't help having been born on the same day as the Fuehrer!
