At www.wedigtv.com , you can play Catch Phrase, Countdown, Blockbusters, and Family Fortunes. Just be sure to have a decent internet connection- the games incorporate video clips from the actual show.

I had these letters:
SAMOVARGP

I selected "Gramps" and was told that it was not a word.  I was then told that I was "unfortunate" that I could not come up with "SAMOVAR".

I had to chuckle..

The game was put together very nicely. Why does it not surprise me that a British outfit put together something nicer than we can over here?  Also, is there some way to register?  I didn't see a link on the front page...

Final note:  It may just be me, but I like watching a commercial for an actual product much better then "25,000 free smllies!!!!"

I really like the real ads, because it's the best way to display them in a TV-style game. Just like a TV commercial break, it gives you time to rest before the game starts again. Good call.

//Too bad there's only two advertisers.

I was told "Mersey" wasn't a word.

By a British game.

EDIT: fine, I'll accept the "proper name" ruling.

Blockbusters - The family pair (or whatever they are called here) answer every question correct. They never answered incorrectly.

And they never beat you to the buzzer. That's a quite intentional part of the program.

Sometimes, to make a Web game work, you have to take a few liberties.

Point taken. A mixture of correct & incorrect guesses would be nice, though.
Enjoy lots and lots of backstage TPIR photos and other fun stuff here. And yes, I did park in Syd Vinnedge's parking spot at CBS

Out of my letters I came up with "Realtor", but it was unacceptable because it was not a British term.  The word they gave me was "Ureather".

The only suggestion I can come up with is to show us the answers to the "Catch Phrases" that I did not get correct.

That would be what I meant by "liberties". You get so much time to buzz in. If you don't, you lose the box. The point is so a given game doesn't need to have more than one question for each letter.

Actually, you can't play 'Realtor' on the Scrabble computer game either.  It's a proper name.  (Though mmb5 informs me that it's been made acceptable in the latest edition of the official dictionary.)

Here's hoping Fremantle will greenlight some U.S.-Based broadband games!!

I already came up with a list of about 10 G/T games I'd love to see done over here!  But I would think that there are more legal hurdles to clear here than in the UK (i.e., getting approval to use the voices and the video clips of those hosts who are not with us anymore) to make this happen.

Is that the entire TWL, or just an excerpt? I saw some references to OWL in there, made me wonder if it was based on SOWPODS instead.

Anyone else just think of an oldies' song?

I haven't had these problems because my anagram skills are horrible. :P  Do you think they accept slang?

Hmm, okay. I know you are far more in tune with the Scrabble scene than I, so I ask: are we getting to the point where the OSPD and TWL are synching up, or are there still a buncha words on the TWL that you won't find in an OSPD?

Actually, it's getting more apart as more words become non-PC.  As long as there are offensive words, the lists will never be in sync.  For the non-Scrabble-philes:

OSPD = TWL - bad/offensive words

The Scrabble dictionaries you see in stores are OSPD.  TWL you can only get from the National Scrabble Association.  I believe the difference right now is just short of 200 words.

This has been mentioned in this thread already, but during a playing of "Countdown" this afternoon, a new ad popped up (instead of the cutting board/toilet one) stating that "The Price is Right" with Joe Pasquale would be coming soon. First hyping of the new game that I've seen, aside from the aforementioned pictures in the "About Us" section. It will certainly be interesting to see how this translates into online game play. Seeing what these guys have done so far gives me great hope.
