Ex-GS host-turned comedian-Davidson humiliated

But rather the most recent host of the UK's Generation Game and Big Break, Jim Davidson.  Article courtesy of the Manchester Evening News.  Quite a sad read, but it is GS-related, soo...

Has there ever been an American emcee who has fallen from grace, so to speak, after gaining fame in this field?  I mean, it's one thing to have your career slip away and wake up in Cruddy Infomercial Hell, but abject public humiliation...

You could vouch for Richard Karn.  Then again, he wasn't really "famous" and was in Infomercial Hell to begin with.

Looks up the word "vouch"...  I'd also argue that Karn was really quite well known when he started on Feud.  His character on Home Improvement was pretty popular.

I don't know Davidson's work, but the article seems to say that he's a very edgy and extremely un-PC comic who's probably not universally beloved, so it's not surprising he'll draw hecklers.  Nothing seems to suggest that he was even doing a bad job, just that an organized group of hecklers had made it their business to bring him down.  Sometimes the hecklers win; that's not quite the same thing as 'abject public humiliation.'

Maybe there's something I'm not seeing, but I don't read this as nearly quite so pathetic as you're making it our to be.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

I suppose you could say Jack Barry in the 50s, but he bounced back quite nicely with Joker's Wild.

In the US, the tradition is that you do something scandalous (Pee Wee Herman, Monica Lewinsky) and then you get a game show.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

Ew.  That's an image I NEVER want to even remotely think of again.
When you're at the grocery game and you hear the beep, think of all the fun you could have at "Crazy Rachel's Checkout Counter!"
