New Blog..
« on: March 28, 2007, 04:29:13 PM »
I have just joined the blogging world..My blog will focus on Classic TV and radio in Cleveland/NE Ohio from 1940-1985 or thereabouts.  I'd like to try and write some about old stations, shows and people that graced the airwaves in the Cleveland area over the years. That being said I will write about other interests as well including Game Shows, Cartoons, sports etc.  I would appreciate any consructive crtiicism, ideas, suggestions, etc..Thanks for reading..

No offense intended, and best of luck for a long and successful run, but don't you think you're taking the advice to "focus your audience" a little too literally? :)

I suppose thats possible Chris, but this is all new to me..I have done some classic tv postings other places (including here) with varied results..I do enjoy writing about it, but am not sure how much material I will have or how it will take shape..Therefore, I don't want to box myself in as far as subject matter.Hope that makes sense.

Well, that's what I'm saying. If you're gonna focus it to "television in Cleveland and the surrounding area prior to 1985," you're really limiting your potential audience. I'd loosen that up a little bit, but that's me, the guy with the blog that writes about television one day and fried chicken the next. :)

If this blog leads us to some old copies of Matches & Mates, Quick As A Wink, or some old Academic Challenges from the 60's & 70's, then the blogsite has served it's purpose! :-0

I would love for that to happen, but I doubt that anything exists except maybe Academic Challenge.  All I have are Channels 3 and 5's 50th anniversary shows as well as other shows the same day as the Channel 5 Show (Morning and Afternoon Exchange, News, etc.) That focus on the anniversary..I also have an hour of "Upbeat" Clips from a special with Don Webster..Ive read that whatever vintage Cleveland TV exists (mostly Channel 5 stuff) Is archived at John Carroll University or Case Western

I'm not from Cleveland, but I do have a good number of TV Guides from the area, if that helps.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

Along with what Jimmy said, I have some old issues of the "Southern Ohio Edition" from the early '70s..

A dozen or so spanning 1957 and 1962 and a more continuous run from 76 to 81 or so, there may be additional ones after that. Many pictures of Bob Zappe.

Did I ever mention that I became aquainted with Matt Ottinger while purchasing TV Guides on ebay?
