Just saw this clip on youtube, along with other clips of the show, and noticed they use the same music as the US version, however... listen to the "Come on Down" music...

Its the 76-79 version of the theme. I posted the clip because its the cleanest copy i have heard of the music with an audience (BTW, at the beginning you can hear the music tape start. theres a crackle, then low hum, then the music starts). Also, other versions of TPIR in Europe used this version for come on down as well, with even the German TPIR using the 72-75 opening music during the spinning of the wheel.

Don't know why i like this version of the music better, but just do. Feels richer with more instruments, and sounds like either different synthesized instruments or just more in the mix. Wonder why this version is so hard to find; would love to hear it.

What's really odd is that while there's no publicly released version of that cue, there is a publicly released version of the shorter edit that's used for the fifth through ninth contestants...but that edit was never actually used on the show; every place but the opening has always used the current version.

And for what it's worth, I like the current version a lot better...I always thought the '76-'79 opening sounded like it hadn't hit puberty yet or something.  (Yes, I know that's stupid, but I've never been able to find a better way to describe it.)

LOL...I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head, always thought the current arrangement of Walking had a more fuller sound than the original myself.

Yes, need.

Some people need organ transplants to survive.  Others need water or food.  A select few get their vitality and nourishment from music cues.  Do you want to see someone die because he can't get the 2-minute music cue he needs?  How do you sleep at night knowing that someone might not see tomorrow because he needs an MP3 in order to survive?

Actually, yeah. I'm thinking "death by music starvation" would be a pretty rare event.

It's interesting the UK version has a studio built with steps.  With the more excitable US contestants, many would miss their footing and fly down the stairs unintentionally, similar to a "wheelie".  Ramps are much safer for a screaming fan to navigate.

I disagree with your logic.  Steps would be the perfect deterrent for the $420 stoner fratb0iz from Comin' on Down.

/would pay $765 (or whatever eBay tix are being sold for) to see a stoner fall on the steps, though
