A dream version of Temptation (revised)
« on: March 31, 2007, 11:14:39 PM »
My NEW version again follows the same current format as the Australian version all the way down to "Ten in 60 Seconds"; the only difference is the stakes for the cash jackpot, which could be a possible $500,000:

$500,000 = 2 (starting value $50,000 + ($25,000 a day x first 6 days) + $50,000 on the 7th day)

BTW, any additional word on the clearance status of the show?

Some of us consider Temptation perfect as it is.  Most of us are just praying that when Temptation arrives on our televisions this fall, it is just like or very close to the Australian format.   However with their current hosting choice, it doesn't look good.
My favorite Win Ben Stein's Money Category:

Where Am I Doc? Urinalysis Restaurant.

Exactly how does the choice of a host determine whether or not the format resembles the one used in Australia?

God help me, there's some logic here. If they picked a Pretty Boy as the host instead of getting someone who, you know, knows how to host a game show, then the likelihood of them having enough respect for the franchise  to Not Fix something that Didn't Break is very likely to be much lower.

No; he's just one of those people who thinks that incessant repetition of a bad idea eventually turns said bad idea into a good one.  This is no different from when he declared over and over again that Todd Newton and Brooke Burke should co-host the show.  (See also: "ilovetpir" and the Million Dollar Showcase for teens.)

Well... how many game shows had Ed Phillips hosted before "Temptation"?

A lot of the younger ones here don't realize that many of our beloved hosts were actually washed-up actors, singers, or otherwise chosen for their looks. Everybody was a first-time host at some point. I'm going to wait until Rossi actually sucks to say "Rossi sucks".

/that said, would've liked to see George Gray get the job

So will I. However, that still doesn't make Todd Newton anything close to a good candidate for the job.

All I've said is that my hopes aren't high. I've also said that I'd be pleased to be wrong.

But still, even if Phillips was a rookie, he had years of experience doing the weather for national Aussie outlets...which at the very least, gives him countless hours of ad-lib experience in front of the camera. IMHO, there isn't much more you can do for credentials to host a game show. Seriously. (Hell, even anchormen and women read everything off a prompter. How are they at ad-libbing?)

Does Rossi have that? Not even close...though he gets a point in his favor for at least 'having' hosted shows before, even if most of us haven't watched them and\or heard of them.

Lets not knock him becuase he isn't a namebrand, kids. Knock if he sucks as a game show host, but we won't know that  til Sept.

Because I felt that maybe the production company wouldn't be able to afford a top prize of $800,000; also in this busy syndication world maybe you shouldn't have such high expectations for any new game show.

But you don't mind $500K one bit.

You know what's coming, right?
