I already used this line on Chad's Twitter, but what the hell:

Endless will only release half of the 2nd Edition of MDP this summer.  Then they'll pull it from the shelves, and make the rest available for sale 5 or 6 months later.

Okay, maybe it's my creeping dementia, but am I the only one who gets a chuckle out of the Password box claims of "with 1,000 new words"? Has a staff etymologist come up with completely new words like gniff, froadway, kreen, and glebble? Maybe..after all, there's Linq....

I could see Endless putting out an ad for a staff etymologist, and ending up with someone who knows a lot about bugs.

Also: Any real reason that MDP is judged as being for ages 10 and up while classic Password is recommended for 8+? Surely the speed of the game wouldn't make a difference, especially since the words in the classic game are generally harder?

I was browsing around the iTunes store, and I came across a version of Don't Forget The Lyrics! It's $4.99.

Digital Spy reports that THQ has nabbed the rights to produce games for the Wii and Nintendo DS based on Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!. The first game is expected to be released in late 2010. However, there's one very interesting aspect about these games mentioned on the article:

[Clemmer] also revealed that the resulting titles will incorporate the Wii Speak functionality to "reimagine how these games are played and engage fans with a whole new level of interactivity".

For those that don't know, Wii Speak is a microphone system, currently running for about thirty bucks, that sits next to the sensor bar that's supposed to be able to pick up the vocalizations from around the room. I've never used it before, so I don't know how well it works, but it's certainly interesting to see the first game show game to support voice being developed.

Hmm, that's quite an interesting development there.  Sounds like something I might be interested in now that I have the Wii.  Looks like an early wish list item for Christmas 2010.  We'll see how far along this goes.

I'll be very interested to see if it works remotely well. I have my suspicions, mind you, but I'd be pleased to be proven wrong.

How the eventual "Don't Forget The Lyrics" version will probably work:

Me: ...Rolling, rolling, rolling down the river.

<eight seconds elapse before words appear on screen>

Screen: Polling, rowing, soiling bong the liver.

<microphone is destroyed upon collision with the wall>

I was looking for a copy of the Jeopardy! Platinum Edition game from 1995, when I stumbled upon this- a new Jeopardy! PC game named Jeopardy!: Platinum Edition. Of course, there's not going to be a J! game without its Wheel counterpart. This one bears the "Platinum Edition" subtitle as well:

http://www.amazon.com/Wheel-of-Fortune-Pla...d_bxgy_sw_img_b

No release date given on Amazon, but the site below is showing a March 2 release date.

If the latest trend continues, then we'll see nothing more than a graphical update. If the release date is right, then we'll know in roughly 2-3 weeks.

P.S. I didn't know this, but the current crop of J! and Wheel games most recently included a "super deluxe" edition. Huh?

Fact To Make You Feel Old: Just about every contestant who appears in a Price is Right Teen Week episode from here on out has only known a world where Drew Carey has been the host.

Well, a year after it was first announced, the Wheel of Fortune 3rd edition, from Pressman is finally available!  I saw it in a local Kmart store for $12.99!

Personally, I think the box art is the best since the original version done in 1985.
