The first game was not technologically sound enough to be much more than a party game where you use the computer monitor for clues, but I thought the 2001 effort was pretty sound- what did you see wrong with that one?
If you played the computer, there was a limited amount of clues that the celeb partner would give.  If you couldn't get it with that, you were screwed; and IIRC, the clues were horrible some time.  (The 'party mode' in that game was excellent, however).

I normally don't do this, but I would end up writing it all over again, so here's my review. The game certainly looked pretty.

Has anyone played the Amazing Race game yet?

It looks nice on the packaging, but I'm afraid of how Ludiacrous game play is. I'm sure the Eurostyle Font in the logo has been replaced with Generic Ludia Font For Everything.

That looks so off.

Maybe it's because the most recent version might be more familiar to viewers*, but if you're going to use the old-school logo, why not just use the 80s set?

*I question that, seeing as how when the show is parodied on shows like Family Guy and Robot Chicken, they use a mock-up of the 80s set. I mean, yeah, Donnymid's the most recent version, but it's a bit obscure as a pop culture memory, compared to 80s Pyramid with the massive pyramids everywhere. You know what, nevermind, why am I questioning Ludia?

There's a good question. Seeing how good some of these games look from a graphical standpoint, we want the presentation and gameplay to match that. As mentioned already, a lot of these games aren't hard to get right, and Ludia always releases games with some glaring flaw that's a red flag for more than just us game show fans. The Fremantle buyout makes me even more wary, because Fremantle isn't exactly known for stellar quality control on their actual shows.

With those games being so hard to screw up, we hope that they get it right- after all, not many companies are in the game show video game business. But after seeing what THQ did with Wheel and Jeopardy, I wouldn't mind seeing what else they could come up with.

Going back to The Amazing Race for a moment, it's now available for the iPod Touch, iPad, and iPhone for $2.99.

Was going to pick it up for my mom who loves the show, but went for the mat instead.

The 80s logo fit in with the Standard Stewart palette of blues and oranges.

And that doesn't say anything about how the front game looks like you're playing the Clue Screen.
If you didn’t create it, it isn’t your content.

So I was watching Syndie WWTBAM today, and noticed that there was a plug for the new Millionaire game for iPhone and iPod touch (with the Shuffle rules).

However, the new game is no where to be found on the App Store. The screen showed the new rules, lifelines, etc. I wonder if these eps are being aired out-of-order, or they just planned for it to be out and it's not out yet.

Good to know- Capcom has done well with their Millionaire games- they got my vote of confidence when they put Fastest Finger in the last one.
