The distributor of the PC-CD/console version of the Price is Right game, Ubisoft, has recently launched a web site.  It has a playable version of Punch-A-Bunch (Plinko and Cliffhangers will be added in the coming months).  You can win a Wii prize pack or the grand prize of a trip for two to play Plinko at the stage show for $5,000.  For me, the best part of the web site is that they use cues from the show as background music - some of them haven't been heard in the clear before.

I was wondering when this site would launch. Last month at the studio, I was watching Rich do the promos in front of a green screen.

I also met a gentleman involved in the marketing of the game, but he wasn't from Ubisoft. I told him that I didn't like the fact that you could only play the demo for 30 minutes. I suggested maybe 30 days would be more appropriate. Turns out he had no control over that, but would pass on the comments to their development team (I'm not holding my breath)

Rich was glad I liked the TPIR game as he put a lot of work into it.

Enjoy lots and lots of backstage TPIR photos and other fun stuff here. And yes, I did park in Syd Vinnedge's parking spot at CBS

Not on your life. Most people are going to get their fill of a casual game in 30 days.

In that one hour, you should have gotten a sense of what the game was like, you were likely able to play through at least one complete game, and you have more than enough information to decide whether you want to buy it or not.

That's why it's an hour. This ain't charity.

My TPIR PC game demo was 30 minutes...got enough of my fill (except I just got to play Plinko)
When you're at the grocery game and you hear the beep, think of all the fun you could have at "Crazy Rachel's Checkout Counter!"

I was watching the trailer and saw that it was rated "E" but had a note for "Alcohol reference." I've played the PC Game, but I haven't the slightest what that is referring to. Anyone?

One of the prizes was a wine cooler/rack. Maybe that's what they are referring to?

Maybe it's just me, but the new logo looks out of place on the old doors. Anyway, the site is awesome, though. You can definitely see that it was put together by someone who cares. If you click on "Game Info",you can hear a frequently used showcase cue.

WARNING- Clicking on "Home" will show a scary sight- Rich inherits the mic. (shudder). Thankfully, he disappeared after 15 seconds.

Fun Fact To Make You Feel Old: Syndicated Jeopeardy has allowed champs to play until they lose longer than they've retired them after five days.

Full length, too.

Hasbro's site description says 100 questions included...
FYI, the box looks nothing like that, and neither does the lie detector.
The reason for that is because it's TWO different games!  The one at Target is the one from Cardinal Industries, selling for around $10.

The Hasbro game, due out later this summer, has a price tag of around $20, and has a different type of lie detector (described as a "Biometric lie detector, which measures your body temperature and stress level).
Here are two links to each version at amazon.com, with different prices shown:

http://www.amazon.com/Cardinal-Moment-of-T...8294&sr=1-2

http://www.amazon.com/Selchow-Righter-Mome...8294&sr=1-1

It cracked me up when the latter game listing mentioned it's from "Selchow and Righter."  Unless the company has been "reincarnated," It folded back in the late 1980s, and their most popular games--Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit were acquired by Milton Bradley and Parker Brothers, respectively, which are now both part of Hasbro.

Would it be possible that Hasbro for whatever reason is reviving the S&R brand name?

It wouldn't be completely outside of the realm of possibility (see Hill, Avalon), but if you're going to go to the trouble of reviving a brand name best known for it's association with Scrabble, are you going to immediately taint it by slapping it on this tripe?

EDIT: I think their information came from this: http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/ProductsByBrand.htm?BR=874 . Which is clearly some kind of server or design error, considering the other items on that list. (Click "See All" on the left.)

An addendum to my review of 1 vs. 100 for the DS...

Winning the million in the main game is impossible.  I was in a 1 vs. 1 situation...for 18 questions.  Frustrated, bored, and disenchanted by seeing 2 questions repeated in the span of 18 questions, I conceded and took the virtual half million.

DSI, you did a good job with 1 vs. 100.  To make the game impossible to win is as lackadaisical as the lack of randomization on Deal or No Deal.

Apparently, so!  I went to the Hasbro site, clicked on "Brands" and S&R IS listed among them!

Sorry about that, Hasbro!

To be fair, it doesn't look THAT bad. It seems like it'll have trivia (A, B and C buttons). One can only hope that the actual Big Board part of the game doesn't blow chunks.
