You may want to make a 2nd note to self that a DVD can only hold 4.7GB of data.

To do animation, etc for all 80 games you'd need HD-DVD or BluRay to become standard. Otherwise you're making a game on a media format available to almost no one. (can't play a PC game on your PS3) I don't think many manufacturers are shipping PCs with HD or BluRay ROMs unless it's a high-end machine. (Dell's XPS series for example)
Ah, Jay, but you forget, some games can be pressed on a dual-layered DVD, which is about 8-9GB. Keep in mind there's games of similar veins (SEE: Party games) that have a truckload of games yet can fit on a single DVD.

If not all 80, at least 1/2 of the rotation would be nice.

I had guts to wait 10 minutes, then ask "If they were gay".

They weren't, it turns out they were college roommates.

And then i went back to my table, said "Sorry that is not their identity" and took the $50.
I'm surprised, regardless of whether they were (and here's a hint for when / if you decide to grow up: IT DOESN'T MATTER AND IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS), you didn't take a richly-deserved asskicking in the process.

"Guts" isn't the word I would use. "Audacity," maybe, but not "guts."

The promise of $50 does not give you carte blanche to be a jerk.

It was fun seeing whammies return. And to make things extra fun, throw confetti or silly string at your opponent for "Double Whammies".
Whee! Let's take the most idiotic element from the poor remake and recreate it!

Well, I can tell you at least that the "wow" is completely justified, particularly when someone essentially brags about doing something utterly uncouth and tasteless. That was Chartier territory, right there.

As for the "why," well, I can't help you there.

(besides, if you know to ask "why", then you know that the "wow" was deserved.)

Whoops. You're right.

So, realistically you're talking about 30 games then?

Actually, the more I think of it maybe a PC game could get lots of games onto one DVD. I guess I keep thinking about the DVD game and kind of forgot that a PC version lifts pretty much all of those limitations. Depends on the level of animation/audio components included I suppose.

I should bump this up, and say, i tried to make the "Identity" home game.

Me and my friends were at a resturant during a busy lunch time today, and they bet me $50 that the people next to us were gay.

I had guts to wait 10 minutes, then ask "If they were gay".

They weren't, it turns out they were college roommates.

And then i went back to my table, said "Sorry that is not their identity" and took the $50.

If a pair of guys eating together is a sign that they're gay, imagine what those two guys must have been thinking about you and your multiple friends sitting together. "What a circle of jerks," or words to that effect, probably.

I don't care who you are...that's funny right there. :-)

Oh and Jordan, grow up. You're lucky you didn't get punched in the mouth...that's usually the first response when a straight guy gets asked that.

Could Identity be the shortest-lived show to get a home game? If you go by episodes, you might have, what, 12 or 13, including the December trial week?
What about Top Secret? It only had a pilot and still managed to get a home game.
Not necessarily. In this age where many people have broadband, the company could provide a downloadable "prize pack" with updated prizes/prices. Hell, WWTBaM 3rd Edition was doing that a few years ago when broadband was less common (YDKJ did this as well, yes?)
From the game's page:
...the prices, prizes and products featured in the game are all based on real-world merchandise, continually updated  for endless hours of entertainment.

I think we have our answer. And yes, Jay, I do remember the YDKJ add on packs.

Oh, I didn't mean that all eighty needed to be included. I was just making the point that 12 limits the variety in the game, and those are probably going to be the same 12 games that were on the DVD version. Like someone else already said, even half the games would be alright.

EDIT- Like many other downloadable games, what if this one were to use still shots with limited animation (e.g. Bigjon's TPiR)? Wouldn't that bring the size of the file down significantly?

Fact To Make You Feel Old: Just about every contestant who appears in a Price is Right Teen Week episode from here on out has only known a world where Drew Carey has been the host.

If you keep the amount of FMV to a minimum, I see no reason why you couldn't fit 80 games in a 4.7 gig program.

But then, I come from a place where entire PC games fit on a 130K floppy.

So I was right to put you on ignore based solely on your introductory post in Let's Meet Our Players.  I'm relieved.

Staying on topic, re: the TPIR PC game, wouldn't one of the problems with having every game in the rotation be the random selection of said games during play?  I mean, who would enjoy a simulated show that consists of Joker, One Right Price, Magic #, Credit Card, Double Prices and Push Over?  Of course, I'm sure there'd also be a function that would allow you to pre-select games, but part of the fun (for me at least) is not knowing what's coming next.

Presumably in that situation, the game could be programmed by categories (as Roger currently does).
