More new GS games coming soon

Though not exactly based on an original game show, today at my local Kmart store, I found a new electronic tabletop version of 20Q by Radica.  It's designed to be played by up to four people, and the copies I found had a sticker on the box, promoting the "New Game Show," on GSN.

Here's a link to what it looks like, from amazon.com:

Was in Toys R Us and saw these two new IT items:

Wheel of Fortune Tabletop - $29.99 - This just looks bad. The screen is tiny, and the wheel (while colored correctly compared to the renders), still has just the tacky '$' on each space. The stylus is pointless (no pun intended), because the 'touch screen' is just small buttons. This should start clearancing quick - and while I'm interested in how it plays, I'm not going to drop $30 on it. Fun fact, the back acutally says "Easy to read with large LCD screen!". This COULD have been a handheld game, 90% of the game (the wheel assembly) is just fluff.

Deal or No Deal 4th Season Tabletop - $23.99 - It's the tabletop with the Deal Wheel! It looks just like the renders. It still shows the stupid non-rounded bids. However, I do like the look much more than the first edition, and do like the fact that it's priced cheaper. If I wasn't so sick of Deal, I might actually pick this up. I do find it funny that the game is so bland, they have to start including the 'gimmicks' on the home versions too.

Couple heads ups:

I found the MDP Board Game at Target on clearance tonight for about $8. It's a "Target Exclusive Edition" and features "60% more Password rounds".

I also found that Meijer has many of their Jakks Plug N Play games on clearance for $9.99. No TPiR but I picked up WoF 2nd Edition at that price. I saw Jeopardy! too but passed on it.

Prices may not be the exact same in your area but in most cases the same items are on clearance across the board and the prices are usually somewhat similar.

Here is the case (box) art for Family Feud 2010 and The Price is Right 2010 for the Wii: http://www.amazon.com/Family-Feud-2010-Nin...d_bxgy_vg_img_b.  Nothing for Press Your Luck yet.

I'm thinking (and really hope) those are just preliminary placeholder graphics. They're looking way too generic. Plus, I imagine they'll go with just "2010" rather than "2010 Edition". Then again, Ludia might not have a marketing/design department, or someone there thought that was a good idea.

I thought they looked fine, especially since there was nothing super special about the first edition's art either.

I thought that too. The possibility of that being the case is actually pretty high, though at the same time the art on the first TPiR Wii was no great shakes either, and so this could be the direction Ubisoft is taking with these titles. (Let's face it: these are not triple-A titles, and so Ubisoft is not going to throw a lot of resources at the package art.)

Let's also be realistic.  What's going to grab someone's eye while going down the video game aisle of your store of choice--a less boring cover with contestants and/or hosts on the packaging or the name of the show taking up 60% of the front packaging?  If I'm Ludia/Ubisoft, grabbing the buyer's attention with the names of franchises which have been successful for 30+ years each is significantly more important than "Hey Bob, should front cover of the TPiR game have a cartoon contestant playing Plinko or spinning the Showcase wheel?"

On Sunday, I bought the TPiR Jakks Pacific game.  While it is fun, it is not compatible with adaptor that was made for previous TV Games.  What a bummer!  So be warned.  If you buy this game, be sure to pick up 4 AA's.

Same goes for the last Family Feud game's box art, with generic contestants and host.

The boxes aren't that bad at all. Big show logo, and using a familiar show detail as a background. Minus the 2010, I would possibly use either as a computer wallpaper.

As long as the content is fine, I don't care. Hey, we've seen worse.

Fact To Make You Feel Old: Just about every contestant who appears in a Price is Right Teen Week episode from here on out has only known a world where Drew Carey has been the host.

(No offense intended in my editing of original post!)

I haven't seen the actual games myself at TRU, however they've added the items to their website, and the images look better than what I saw from prototype packages IMHO:

I like how the WOF game is called "Pass 'N Play," instead of "Platinum" edition, since iToys has never released an electronic WOF game before.  (Wonder if they'll try to produce a new Jeopardy! electronic game?)

Bob,

That is NOT the one I saw/now own. Mine in the full size one with the big wheel. This looks the same but with a smaller wheel.

Have they canned the larger one allready?

Some pictures to prove I'm not lying:

At least the wheel does spin!  This looks like it will be as much fun as the TV Play-Along game from the late 80s.  Why oh why must iToys do such a crappy job on designing games?  I want Tiger Toys back lol!

P.S.  I think both versions shown do look identical.

Huh? On the Pass N Play the screen is on the Right, on the Tabletop version the screen is on the Left. The tabletop has full size spin/buy/solve buttons, and the pass n play doesn't. It's the exact same game, just the size of the wheel is different.

I'll be posting a full review later, but the game is actually fairly good - and all aspects of Wheel are represented. Not nearly as terrible as I thought.
